SOL SHSHL Ice Hockey Wrap (12-8-17)

North Penn and Wissahickon were winners in SHSHL ice hockey action on Friday. Check out the recaps.

NORTH PENN 8, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 4
Jake Nelson scored three goals and assisted on another while teammate Nathan Oh added two goals and two assists to lead the Knights to the win on Friday. North Penn opened up a 6-1 lead only to watch the Indians trim that lead to two at the end of two periods.
Nelson scored a pair of goals in the opening period – the first with assists from Tyler Greenstein and Oh and the second with a Jared Albano assist on a power play.  Nelson also had an assist on Andrew Galetta’s power play goal as the Knights led 3-0 after one period.
William Sohn put the Indians on the board, using assists from Brandon Simmonds and Ian Rice. The Knights answered with three straight goals – two from Oh and one from Galetta – to take a five-goal lead. Cavan Tully (Daniel Guest assist), Brandon Simmonds (Tully assist) and Harrison Treiman (Simmonds assist) each scored a goal for the Indians to make it a 6-4 game heading into the final period.
Boyle and Nelson scored the only goals in the final period.
Rock North goalie Rex Goldberg kept his team in it with 40 saves. Andrew Zanoni turned away 20 shots for the Knights in the win.

WISSAHICKON 12, LOWER MORELAND 2
Bryan Garry erupted for six goals and assisted on another in a glittering offensive effort, leading the Trojans to a rout of the Lions. Nolan Piatkowski added a hat trick while Sean Garry and Daniel Glazer both had one goal and two assists.
The Trojans took care of business in a hurry, reeling off three straight goals – two by Garry and one from Piatkowski – in the opening 5:08 of the contest. Lower Moreland’s Brennan Bostock interrupted the Trojans’ tear with a goal, using an AJ D’Orazio assist. The Trojans closed out the period with five unanswered goals for an 8-1 lead after one period. Bryan Garry accounted for a pair while Piatkowski, Glazer and Sean Garry each had one.
The second period featured a pair of Garry goals as well as single goals by Samuel Junker and Piatkowski. Adam Bostock accounted for the Lions’ second goal. Jake Modelevsky earned the win in goal for the Trojans, turning away 15 shots.
