WARMINSTER -- Upper Moreland ice hockey coach Michael Angelo had the right cure for what ailed the Golden Bears.

When Plymouth Whitemarsh, a team that had only won one game all season, took the lead on the Bears in the second period, Angelo went back to his old standbys, and Upper Moreland came out with a 9-4 win over the Colonials Thursday night at Bucks County Ice.

"I was switching my lines up," Angelo said, speaking about what the Bears were doing before the sudden rally by PW. "(But there was) no panic.

"We had to go back to square one. I went back to the normal lines that I knew were capable of putting the puck in the net and they did so."

His top line included Matt Iehle. And the senior took care of business for Angelo and the Bears. He scored five goals in the game, two in the first period, one in the second and two more in the third and then added an assist for a six-point night.

"Rarely," Iehle said when asked about the frequency of him scoring five times in one game. "But it wasn't just me.

"It was my teammates. I can't do it without them. It's not a one-man show out there. It's a team effort."

Luckily for the Bears, Iehle was part of their team.

"The kid wears the intensity right on his sleeve," Angelo said. "He carries this team.

"He and the others leaders - I lean on them. I asked them for a couple goals and he produces."

And Plymouth Whitemarsh coach Bob Moyer, filling in for head coach Brian Isely, knew what to expect from Iehle also.

"He's always been an issue (against us)," Moyer said of Iehle. "It will be interesting when we see them in the playoffs."

The Colonials threw a bit of a scare into the Bears in the second period. The first stanza had belonged to Upper Moreland, outscoring Plymouth Whitemarsh 3-2.

In the second, the Colonials came out quickly, getting two goals within the first six minutes of the period to tie the score at 3-3 and then take the lead 4-3. If PW could have held on, it would have been the first win for the Colonials since Dec. 4, when they beat Lansdale Catholic 8-5.

But at that point, Iehle and his younger brother Andy took charge. Andy scored to tie the game at 4-4 and Matt put Upper Moreland on top to stay five minutes later.

"They always give us a tough run," Matt Iehle said. "I don't know what it is.

"You can't take anyone lightly in this league. They play us tough. You've got to be ready for anything."

Angelo had another slant on things.

"I'm very lax on them," he said of his team. "It was a very lax game.

"At the same time, I'm trying to get them into playoff mode, to turn the intensity up. I want them to go, from the top to the bottom, with intensity.

"These kids look at the records and they play down to them, thinking they can just blow by them. These kids (PW) came out with something to prove. They're a well-coached team and they came out to play."

Moyer knew Plymouth Whitemarsh could give the Bears a game. But he also had a problem.

"We played them real tough, especially with only two lines," he said. "I'm disappointed that my third line didn't show up. You can't play a varsity game with two lines."

Iehle started quickly, getting his first goal in the first period with only 18 seconds elapsed off the clock. At the 3:06 mark, Colton Arizini put the Bears up by two goals, scoring on the power play, and 53 seconds later, Iehle notched his second goal of the game for a 3-0 Upper Moreland lead.

At that point, it looked like the game would be a rout. But the Colonials weren't having any of that.

With 3:05 left in the period, Jonathan Isely netted the first PW goal of the game. Then, with less than a second remaining on the clock, Brad Keller scored to cut the UM lead to one goal.

Plymouth Whitemarsh took the lead in the second period with consecutive goals, one from Chris Zawislak and one from Isely.

The Iehle brothers took that lead back with their goals to finish off the second period. Upper Moreland held a 5-4 lead going into the final stanza.

Matt Iehle scored the first two goals of the third period. His first came with the teams at even strength and the second, and his fifth of the game, came on the power play.

Arizini took the offense from there. He scored his second goal unassisted on the power play and then completed his hat trick at even strength with an assist from Matt Iehle.

The five-goal game has to be a highlight for Matt Iehle.

"It's something nice for my senior year," he said. "We've added some players like my brother, who's a really big help. This season is definitely a special one."

Central Bucks East 7     Central Bucks West 2
Andrew Bily contributed five assists to lead a balanced Patriot attack. For two periods, the Bucks hung tough, trailing by just a 3-2 count heading into the final period when the Patriots exploded for four unanswered goals.
Austin Chase spotted the Patriots a 1-0 lead with a power play goal 13:08 into the opening period, but less than a minute later West’s Danny Wilson got that goal back, knotting the score 1-1 after one period.
East’s Alex Wasserman (power play) and West’s John McGreadie exchanged goals, but the Patriots had a lead they would not lose when Shaun Bily scored late in the second period.
East closed it out with single goals from Sean Parahus, Joe Ridolfi, Shaun Bily and Zach Davis (power play) in the third period.
The Patriots held a lopsided 69-12 advantage in shots. West goalie Jonah Braus kept his team in it, turning away 54 of 60 shots.

Neshaminy 5      Abington 3
Eric Graham connected for the hat trick to lead the Redskins to the win. It was Graham scoring the equalizer after Abington’s James Campbell spotted the Ghosts and early 1-0 lead.
In the second period, Ian Dixon and Graham both scored a goal to give the Redskins a 3-1 lead. That lead grew to 4-1 early in the third period after another Graham goal. Alex DeCristofano scored a shorthanded goal for the Ghosts to make it a 4-2 game, but that’s as close as the Ghosts would get as Neshaminy’s Mark Kruise and Abington’s Thomas Panella exchanged goals to close out the scoring.
The Redskins held a 42-17 advantage in shots. Abington’s Cole Kramer was credited with 37 saves in goal.

Council Rock South 3    Pennsbury 3
Pennsbury’s Eric Michael scored an unassisted goal in the closing seconds of regulation, forcing the Golden Hawks to settled for the tie.
The Golden Hawks led 1-0 after one period, thanks to a goal from Jason Brockman. Neither team scored in the second period, the Falcons evened the score when Linder Kenyon scored an unassisted goal 25 seconds into the third period. Kyle Bradley’s goal put the Golden Hawks on top 2-1, but Luke Ledes evened the score yet again. An Eric Higgins goal 15:47 into the final period gave the Golden Hawks a 3-2 lead that turned out to be anything but secure as Michael needed just 11 seconds to knot the score with a goal for the 3-3 final.
The Golden Hawks held a 37-24 edge in shots. Pennsbury goalie Trevor Schadler turned away 34 of the shots he faced. South’s Zachary Magro had 21 saves.
