PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Sterling Limo Player of the Week
Tyler Whitmore, Upper Moreland –
The senior running back had 270 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries in the Golden Bears’ 42-6 win over Hatboro-Horsham. Whitmore is the area’s leading ground gainer with 847 yards after just four games. He is averaging over 10 yards a carry.

Coach Adam Beach says:  “The biggest thing with Tyler is he has kind of put it all together. It’s the culmination of him growing up as a young man and understanding his role in the offense. He was a receiver last year, and we made him a running back, so he’s still learning as he goes. When you have a kid like this, we’ve got to get him the ball as much as possible. He has that home run ability.
“The offseason was good. The line got stronger, so they’re creating some holes. Last year he did a lot of things on his own. This year the offense is clicking a little better, and he’s having more success. He’s one of those kids that does play defense. He’s not just a one-side-of-the-ball kid.
“He really took to the offseason workouts. He’s doing a good job in the classroom. To see him go out there and have the success he’s having is good for him, and it’s good for us as a football team.“He’s a talent. He’s got speed that you just don’t see a lot at this level. Anytime he gets loose, he can go. He’s a fun kid to coach. It’s good to see him having the success he’s having. It’s important that he stays with it, it’s important the team stays with it, and we have to take it one game at a time.”

Sterling Limo Offensive Player of the Week
Khalif Sinclair, Norristown –
The junior wide receiver was a game changer in Norristown’s come-from-behind overtime win over Central Bucks West that saw the Eagles rally from a 20-7 deficit in the fourth quarter. Sinclair scored three straight touchdowns, including a TD on an 80-yard reverse. He also hauled in a 13-yard touchdown pass in overtime that – after a successful two-point conversion – propelled the Eagles to the dramatic 28-27 win.
Coach Jason Powel says:  “Khalif has been working hard on his game and, most importantly, his approach to the game itself and his teammates. As proud as I am of Khalif’s accomplishments this week, I am proud of our team as a whole for playing hard and finishing the game. It was with some great plays by Khalif and his teammates in a great team effort.”

Sterling Limo Defensive Player of the Week
Colin Williams, Wissahickon –
The senior linebacker turned in a big performance in the Trojans’ 41-28 win over Springfield. He finished the night with 11 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and one interception.
Coach Jeff Cappa says:  "Colin is a phenomenal defensive player for us.  He has a profound work ethic in the weight room, on the practice field, and in the classroom.  Colin studies the scouting report each week and constantly asks how he can help the team improve.  He's one of our captains. Colin will be the first to give credit to his teammates before himself.  He has an outstanding cast around him with a strong D-line, fast linebackers, and athletic defensive backs. Colin loves football and loves the camaraderie with his teammates. He is a true ‘teammate’ in every sense of the word."

Sterling Limo Defensive Performance of the Week
Council Rock North Defensive Unit –
The Indians limited Central Bucks East to just 126 yards in a 21-0 win last week. The Indians swarmed to the ball all night, creating five turnovers. Big plays were turned in by MLB James Closser, Seth Leuz, DE Connor Drotar (interception) and Thomas Hewitt (forced fumble), Chris Welde (3 pass defense and interception), Brandon McIlwain (interception), Connor Guzy ( sack), Mitch Maisel and Drew Burchlag, Kyle Thorpe and Sophomore Mason Luff (first varsity start) all played exceptionally well, according to coach Adam Collachi.

Coach Adam Collachi says:  "I was proud of their effort Friday night.  They had a good week of practice and they felt very confident in the game plan that the defensive staff came up with.  It was a great effort and we hope to build off of such a great team effort."
