Sterling Limo Players of the Game (Wk 3)

Sterling Limousine and Transportation Services of Wrightstown is proud to recognize the Players of the Week for each conference. Players are chosen based on the nomination of coaches.

NATIONAL CONFERENCE

Sterling Limousine Special Teams Player of the Week – Josh McWilliams, Council Rock North
The senior defensive back/wide receiver returned two blocked punts for touchdowns in Rock North’s 56-26 rout of Hatboro-Horsham.
Coach Adam Collachi says: “Josh is doing a great job for us in all facets of the game. The two returns were huge momentum changers and big plays for us.”

Sterling Limousine Defensive Players of the Week – Neshaminy’s Defensive Line (Luke Carrezola, Dorian Arthur, Alex Nicolas, Mike Palmer, Blake Sullivan, Dan Johnson)
Neshaminy’s defense notched its third straight shutout in the Redskins’ 28-0 win over Souderton on Monday. Propelled by the standout play of their defensive line, the Redskins allowed the Indians to accumulate just 133 yards of total offense. It is the first time since 1964 that Neshaminy has opened its season with three straight shutouts.
Coach Mark Schmidt says:  “Our defensive line was both fundamentally sound and productive last week against Souderton. We have challenged them to lead the way as other players on defense adjust to new positions, and they have responded. William Tennent is well coached and very physical up front. We must continue to improve if we expect to be successful Friday night.”

CONTINENTAL CONFERENCE

Sterling Limousine Offensive Player of the Week – John Fitz, Central Bucks West
With standout running back Marvin Todd forced to leave the game with an injury, the senior quarterback picked up the slack, rushing for 190 yards and two touchdowns. He also had runs of 18 and six yards to help set up the game-winning field goal in the Bucks’ dramatic 31-28 win over Wissahickon.

Coach Brian Hensel says:  “John is generally a very quiet leader for our team. He does not get very emotional one way or the other. I don’t think he could help it, but even he was excited at the end of that performance. It was fun to watch.”

Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Week – Mason Schmauder, Quakertown
The senior defensive end had 11 tackles, five sacks, one caused fumble and a quarterback hurry in the last few games for the Panthers. Mason set a school record for most sacks in the Panthers’ win over Upper Moreland and sealed Quakertown’s win over Cheltenham with a tackle.
Coach George Banas says:  “Mason is a tremendous young man both on and off the field. He is involved in many clubs and activities within our school community and is excelling as a student athlete. Mason is one of the many players that we can say we are very proud to represent what Quakertown football is all about.”

AMERICAN CONFERENCE

Sterling Limousine Co-Offensive Player of the Week – Jequan Mitchell, Upper Merion
The senior running back had another monster game for the Vikings, carrying the ball 33 times for 299 yards in Upper Merion’s win over Olney.
Coach Harold Smith says:  “He’s having a good year, and I keep saying over and over again – it couldn’t happen to a more deserving kid. He’s been through a lot in his life, and he’s very resilient. He’s a team leader. At practice, he was getting kids up for our game. He had two fumbles in our last game, and he was basically heartbroken. After that, he had a 40-some yard run.”

Sterling Limousine Co-Offensive Player of the Week – Connor Hanlon, Plymouth Whitemarsh
The senior quarterback completed 9-of-14 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns. He also completed two passes for two-point conversions and did not have an interception. In addition, he rushed for 33 yards and had another two-point conversion on the ground in PW’s 36-34 win over Downingtown West.
Coach Dan Chang says:  “Connor is a leader for us both on and off the field. The way he kept his composure in a very difficult situation was outstanding. He is a guy who really worked his butt off this offseason. He put on some solid weight and is one of the strongest kids on our team. His biggest attribute though is how smart he is as a football player. He ranks among the top of his class academically, but he also has a great football sense. He can make all of our checks, adjustments and reads out on the field, and I have total confidence that he is doing the right thing.”
