Sterling Limo Players of the Game (Wk 8)

Sterling Limousine and Transportation Services of Wrightstown is proud to recognize the Players of the Game for SOL teams that are part of each week’s SuburbanOneSports.com’s Featured Game.

SOUDERTON at NORTH PENN (North Penn 37, Souderton 14)
Sterling Limousine Offensive Player of the Game – Dan Gevirtz, North Penn
The Knights’ senior wide receiver caught five passes for 120 yards and a touchdown. His 68-yard touchdown reception knotted the score 7-7. Gevirtz also had two carries for 37 yards.
North Penn coach Dick Beck says: “Dan made that huge catch for a touchdown after Souderton took the lead on us.  He also made a 30-yard run that kept an important drive going for us.  He does a lot of good things when he has the ball in his hands.  But even when he doesn’t have the ball, other teams have to account for where he is on the field.  They often double cover him, and that opens up a lot of other options for us offensively.  He has great speed – runs a 4.5 – and also has great athletic ability.  There is no question that he is a very explosive player.”

Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game – Matt Smith, North Penn
The Knights’ linebacker helped anchor a defensive unit that stymied the Big Red all night. Take away the Indians’ opening 50-yard drive and a 76-yard drive when the game was well out of reach, and the Knights allowed just 110 yards of total offense.
North Penn coach Dick Beck says:  “Souderton has shown the ability to move the football with a lot of counter plays, and Matt had great position as our linebacker to stop those plays.  You have to be able to wait for that reverse of the ball, and sometimes you can run yourself out of plays.  Matt did a great job of playing his position and made some punishing tackles.  He is a great leader and plays with a lot of tenacity.  He also is a great athlete that can make plays both stopping the run and dropping into coverage to stop the passing game.”
