STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORTATION
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Sterling Limo Offensive Players of the Game:
First star:  Zach Demarchis –
The junior quarterback put up dazzling numbers in Pennsbury’s 47-32 win over Harry S Truman, finishing the night with 401 yards and six touchdowns. Demarchis completed 13-of-17 passes for 204 yards and one touchdown. He also had 197 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
Coach Dan McShane says:  “He’s just a good decision maker. We always tell our football players – we want smart kids, fast kids, tough kids, in that order, and he’s all three. He really invested in the offseason in getting better, and he’s playing behind a really good offensive line, which always helps. We’re pretty much running back by committee, and you can’t really key on one guy. Even with the pass offense, we spread the ball around. He just executes his reads. We ask him to do a lot more than the typical high school quarterback does, and he’s done a great job.
“As a coaching staff, we did a lot of research in the offseason and got some ideas. He’s got good legs, he runs away from people, and he’s a good decision maker. His throwing has improved greatly. He struggled a little bit last year, and now he’s pretty accurate. His receivers run good routes, and they all have a better understanding of the pass offense compared to last year. It took a while. I think coach (Ian) Bell did a great job - after getting to know Zach for a year – looking at the things he can do and the things he can’t do. He put him in a position to be successful. We’ll be the first ones to admit – we were asking him to do too much right out of the gate with too many reads, too many decisions to make. This year we really scaled it down and built on it, and he’s proving he can handle it from a mental standpoint. You can go a long way with a kid like that at quarterback.”

Second star: Justis Henley, North Penn –The senior wide receiver – who leads the SOL with 620 receiving yards – had another huge game in North Penn’s 57-43 win over Central Bucks East. Justis had six receptions for 168 yards and two touchdowns. He also had one carry for 15 yards and a TD.

Second star: Darryl Davis McNeil, Abington – The senior running back had just nine carries but averaged close to 25 yards a carry, finishing with 224 yards and three touchdowns in Abington’s 35-14 win over Council Rock North.

Third star: Willie Goods, Souderton – The freshman running back was a game changer in Souderton’s 21-16 win over William Tennent, coming out of nowhere to rush for 175 yards and three touchdowns on just nine carries. The win broke a five-game skid for the Indians.

Sterling Limo Defensive Players of the Game:
First star:  Nick Tarburton, Pennridge –
The senior linebacker is a difference maker every week, and Tarburton led the charge in Pennridge’s 26-6 win over Central Bucks West. The Rams limited the Bucks to 171 yards of total offense and -11 rushing yards. Tarburton had eight tackles, three sacks and five tackles for a loss.

Second Star: Anthony Blessing, Souderton – The senior defensive end recorded 11 tackles – three for a loss, one sack and three quarterback hurries - in Souderton’s 21-16 win over William Tennent.

Third star: Mike Garlick, Neshaminy – The Redskins’ senior had four solo tackles, one assist and one hurry in Neshaminy’s 21-14 come-from-behind win over Central Bucks South. His touchdown reception on the goal line on fourth-and-goal from the 17 on a pass from Brody McAndrew knotted the score 14-14 with 34 seconds remaining, setting the stage for overtime. He had four receptions for 50 yards.

Sterling Limo Special Teams Players of the Game:
First star: Javeer Peterson, Harry S Truman –
Peterson returned a kickoff 94 yards in Truman’s 47-32 loss to Pennsbury to keep the Tigers within striking distance.
Coach Dan McShane says:  “Javeer’s 94-yard kickoff return in the third quarter gave us a chance to get back in the game against Pennsbury by putting us within two scores after a couple of bad breaks that Pennsbury was able to capitalize on.  The effort Javeer demonstrated during the return inspired our team to stay in the fight, which resulted in an effort we were proud of at the conclusion of the game.”

Second star: KJ Cartwright, North Penn – Cartwright returned a kickoff 80 yards in North Penn’s 57-43 win over Central Bucks East. He also had 56 rushing yards.
