PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Sterling Limo SOL Player of the Week
Nik Banks, William Tennent –
The senior quarterback has been putting up big numbers week after week. Banks singlehandedly kept the Panthers in the game in 46-41 loss to Council Rock South. He completed nine passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns and also ran the ball for 175 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries, accounting for close to 400 yards of total offense.

Coach Bob Rosenberger says:  “Nik has been a leader on and off the field, and he’s a leader in the classroom as well. He’s just bought into the program. This is nothing we’re doing – it’s just him working hard. He actually sat out a game for us or he’d have even bigger numbers, but he keeps coming to work every day, and it’s good to see a kid like that get rewarded with the success he’s had.
“Nik did everything he could in Friday’s game. He had a pick, and he’ll tell you it was a bad throw, but he kept us in the game with his legs and his arm. It helps to have John Ryan as a receiver, who’s 6-4. We can do different things where coverage-wise teams have to cover him, and that opens up things for other guys.
“At halftime, Nik put a couple of things in, and he gave our receivers a ton of input how they were playing and what they were doing. We adjusted to what they were telling us.”

Sterling Limo Offensive Player of the Week
Kaleif Lee, Upper Dublin –
The junior running back has added a new dimension to the Flying Cardinals’ offensive attack, putting up big numbers on the ground the last several weeks and providing the perfect complement to quarterback Ryan Stover. In Friday’s 34-28 win over Plymouth Whitemarsh, Lee ran for 163 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries, averaging 9.6 yards a carry. He has six touchdowns in the last two games.
Coach Bret Stover says:  “With Kaleif, the sky is the limit. He has run really well the last three weeks and is just what we needed to complement the other facets of our offense. Kaleif’s best days are still in front of him.”

Sterling Limo Defensive Player of the Week
Jack Gordon, Cheltenham  –
The senior middle linebacker was the defensive catalyst in Cheltenham’s 14-0 win over Springfield. He led the Panthers with 12 solo tackles and anchored a standout defensive effort.
Coach Joe Gro says:  “I didn’t actually realize that night – I knew he was having a good football game, but when we watched film, it appeared like he almost made every tackle. He had 12 unassisted tackles and then had a few assisted too. He had a really incredible game. He’s actually been playing really good defense for us the whole year. He’s certainly our leader – he makes all the calls, he adjusts to every alignment, tries to put everybody where they belong. He does more than just his physical play. He’s got a great mental approach, and he’s just an incredibly good young man.”

Sterling Limo Special Teams Player of the Week
Chris Welde, Council Rock North – For the second times in as many weeks, the Indians’ running back returned a kickoff for a touchdown – this time taking it 80 yards. He also ran the ball for 124 yards and one touchdown on 15 carries and had three receptions for 78 yards and two touchdowns in the Indians’ 42-40 loss to Harry S Truman.
Coach Adam Collachi says:  “Chris is the Unsung Hero of the team.  He scores in a variety of ways and keeps making explosive big plays for us.  Chris is an outstanding young man who works hard and is very coachable.”
