Sterling Limo Players of the Week (10-26-18)

Sterling Limousine and Transportation Services of Wrightstown is proud to recognize the Players of the Week. Players are chosen based on the nomination of SOL coaches and football contributors.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Sterling Limo Offensive Player of the Week:
First star:  Terrence Rodgers, Harry S Truman –
The junior running back had 187 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries and was a catalyst in Harry S Truman’s 42-20 non-league win over Pennridge, a win that kept the Tigers number five in the District One. 6A power rankings.
Coach Mike LaPalombara says:  “Terence Rodgers has continued to be the foundation of our offense. Considering that our offense provides the opportunity for several different ball carriers he still manages to be our team’s leading rusher.  TJ managed 187 yards last week against a formidable Pennridge team.”

Second star: Caleb Mead, Upper Moreland – The senior running back had another monster game in Upper Moreland’s 19-14 loss to Cheltenham, finishing with 248 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries. He also had four receptions for 43 yards.

Second star: Tamir Berthau, Abington – The junior quarterback singlehandedly kept the Ghosts in the game, finishing with 210 yards and three touchdowns on the ground and throwing for 96 yards and a touchdown in Abington’s 35-28 loss to Pennsbury.

Third star: Chris Smalls, Wissahickon – The senior running back had 249 yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries in Wissahickon’s 58-43 win over Eastern York. It was the Trojans’ first win of the season.

Sterling Limo Defensive Players of the Week
First star: Neshaminy defensive line (DE Luke Hitchen, DT Bobby Buchys, DT Sean Smith & DE Chisom Ifeanyi) – The Redskins’ defensive line set the tone in Neshaminy’s 9-0 shutout win over Council Rock South, limiting the Golden Hawks’ ground game – led by senior standout Chase Patterson - to just 67 yards. They also applied consistent pressure on the quarterback that led to three sacks.
Coach Steve Wilmot says:  “Luke Hitchen is a three-year starter who has really embraced a leadership role this year. He came up with a couple huge plays in the red zone Friday. Bobby Buchys is a tremendous student and Student Council leader in the high school. This is his first year as a starter on defense after playing tight end only as a junior. He moved from defensive end to defensive tackle during summer camp and has steadily improved on defense every week. This is Sean Smith’s first year playing defensive line. He was in a minor car accident the Monday before the Truman game and missed that game. Fortunately, he recovered quickly and has had an outstanding second half of the season. Chisom is a former free safety and outside linebacker. This is his first year playing defensive line. He has steadily improved as a pass rusher every week. Our defensive line coaches – Jon Craig, Luke Carrezola and Ed Mitchem – have done an unbelievable job developing these guys.”

Second star: Otto Maeglin, Central Bucks East – The senior linebacker had seven tackles, one interception and a fumble recovery in Central Bucks East’s 45-21 win over William Tennent.

Third star:  Tre Samuels, Souderton– The senior outside linebacker had nine tackles (two for a loss) and returned a fumble recovery 50 yards for a touchdown in Souderton’s 28-21 loss to Central Bucks West.

Sterling Limo Special Teams Player of the Week
First star: Lucas Roselli, Upper Dublin – The senior running back returned a kickoff 67 yards for a touchdown to send the Flying Cardinals into halftime with a 21-10 lead on their way to a 31-17 win over Plymouth Whitemarsh.

Second star: Michael Smigley, Central Bucks East – The Patriots’ kicker was 6-for-6 on PATs. He also kicked a field goal and had two punts downed inside the 20.

Third star:  Mert Yilidrem, Harry S Truman– The varsity soccer player has was a perfect 6-for-6 on PATs in Harry S Truman’s 42-20 win over Pennridge.

Honorable Mention
Jamir Barnes, Cheltenham –
The junior running back had 139 yards on 22 carries in Cheltenham’s 19-14 win over Upper Moreland.
Tyler Caso, Wissahickon – Caso contributed on both sides of the football, hauling in three catches for 52 yards, carrying the ball twice for five yards and one touchdown and returning a fumble for a touchdown in Wissahickon’s 58-43 win over Eastern York.
Willie Goods, Souderton – The sophomore kick returner returned three kickoffs for 99 yards in Souderton’s 28-21 loss to Central Bucks West.
Drew Hensor, Pennsbury – The junior quarterback threw for 186 yards and two touchdowns in Pennsbury’s 35-28 win over Abington.
Garrett Hitchens, Central Bucks West – The senior running back had 103 yards and one touchdown in Central Bucks West’s 28-21 win over Souderton.
Jacob Horton – The sophomore linebacker led the Indians with 11 tackles (one for a loss) and also had a quarterback hurry in Souderton’s 28-21 loss to Central Bucks East.
Bryan Kelly, Central Bucks East – The senior running back rushed for 115 yards on nine carries in Central Bucks East’s 45-21 win over William Tennent.
Sheehan Miles, Pennsbury – The Falcons’ wide receiver had seven catches for 115 yards and two touchdowns in Pennsbury’s 35-28 win over Abington.
Evan O’Donnell, Central Bucks East – The senior quarterback threw for 206 yards and two touchdowns in Central Bucks East’s 45-21 win over William Tennent.
Christian Patrick, Quakertown – The senior running back had 157 rushing yards and a touchdown in Quakertown 29-16 win over Hatboro-Horsham.
Nick Santo, Wissahickon – The sophomore quarterback completed 12-of-26 passes for 202 yards and two touchdowns in Wissahickon’s 58-43 win over Eastern York.
Dillon Sheehy, Council Rock North – The junior running accumulated 154 yards on 15 carries in Council Rock North’s 20-19 loss to Bensalem.
Andrew Vince, Souderton – The senior quarterback completed 12-of-17 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown in Souderton’s 28-21 loss to Central Bucks West.
DeAndre Wakefield, Souderton – The junior running back had a 38-yard touchdown run and also caught a 29-yard touchdown pass from Andrew Vince in Souderton’s 28-21 loss to Central Bucks West.
