STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORTATION
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Sterling Limo Offensive Players of the Week:
First star: DeAndre Wakefield – Since returning from an injury that sidelined him a game and a half, Wakefield has eight rushing touchdowns in three games – all Souderton wins. In Souderton’s 21-14 win over Central Bucks East, the junior running back accounted for all three touchdowns, finishing the game with 11 carries for 178 yards and two touchdowns and one catch for 19 yards and a touchdown.
Coach Ed Gallagher says: “DeAndre has really come into his own running the football. He has a great combination of strength and speed that makes him one of the top backs in the SOL. I look forward to seeing him continue to develop as the season progresses.”
Second star: Terrence Rodgers, Harry S Truman – The Tigers’ junior running back had eight carries for 152 yards and two touchdowns in Harry S Truman’s 35-14 win over Council Rock North.
Sterling Limo Defensive Players of the Week
First star: Sam Vaniver & Matt Checchia, Council Rock South – Vaniver, a senior linebacker, had 13 tackles and also had a pair of interceptions, and Checchia, a senior defensive back, had 10 tackles and returned an interception 99 yards for a touchdown. The duo led a Golden Hawk defense that kept North Penn off the board in the first half and battled the Knights to a 17-17 tie at the end of regulation before falling 27-24 in double overtime.
Coach Vince Bedesem says: “Sammy Vaniver has been a steady of a player for us since his sophomore year. He’s one of the toughest players that I have ever coached in 32 years. Sammy has a great instinct to the ball. Sammy leads by example on and off the field. Not only is he a big time run stopper, he plays the pass just as well with the two INTs last week.
“Matt Checchia has been a tremendous presence in the secondary for us since his junior year. Earning second team All-Suburban One honors last year, he is on his way for bigger and better things. Year to date Matt has 4 INTs and one of the INTs was for a 99-yard touchdown. He’s a great player and more importantly a great kid.”
First star: Tre Samuels, Souderton – The senior outside linebacker had 10 tackles (one for a loss), one sack and one hurry to lead the defense in Souderton’s 21-14 win over Central Bucks East.
Ed Gallagher says: “Tre has really matured from last year. He is making plays on both sides of the ball for us, and he has taken on a larger leadership role for our team.”
Second star: Upper Dublin Defensive Line (Mason Novak, CJ Stehli, Quinton Derr, Bryan Derr) – The Flying Cardinals’ defensive line controlled the line of scrimmage and did not allow a point in Upper Dublin’s 20-7 win over Cheltenham.
Third Star: Sam Burke, Pennsbury– The junior middle linebacker led the way defensively with 12 tackles, including a sack, and a fumble recovery in Pennsbury’s 49-13 win over Bensalem.
Sterling Limo Special Teams Player of the Week
First star: Ayoub Cherradi, North Penn – The Knights’ senior kicker was the difference in North Penn’s 27-24 win over Council Rock South. He was 3-for-3 on extra points and connected on a pair of field goals, including the 22-yard game-winner in the second overtime.
Coach Dick Beck says: “He was on the team last year behind Kelly Macnamara, and he’s made some great improvements. He really struggled the beginning of the year, but in our two overtime games, he made every extra point. In our first overtime game (a 34-33 win over Neshaminy), he made every extra point, which was the difference in the game. In the Council Rock South game, he made every extra point, he hit a field goal in the third quarter, and he had the game-winner in overtime.
“He puts in a lot of time at practice, and he made some great improvements. He’s done a real nice job the last couple of weeks on kickoffs, moving the ball around, hitting it deeper than he had before. I think he’s really starting to get into a rhythm.”
Second star: Brady Burgfechtel, Pennsbury– The Falcons’ placekicker was a perfect 7-for-7 in extra points in Pennsbury’s 49-13 win over Bensalem.

Eddie Dualu, Pennsbury – Dualu accounted for 125 yards of total offense to lead Pennsbury in its 49-13 win over Bensalem.
