STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORTATION

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Sterling Limo Offensive Players of the Game:
First star:  Darryl Davis-McNeil, Abington –
The senior running back singlehandedly kept Abington in its game against Neshaminy, finishing the night with 279 yards and two touchdowns on 34 carries in the Ghosts’ 33-28 loss to the Redskins. His four-yard touchdown run and ensuing run on the successful two-point conversion gave Abington a 28-27 lead with 2:16 remaining in regulation.
Coach Kevin Conlin says:  “Darryl ran really well last week. He set his blocks up well, ran for the tough yards and broke a few long ones that really kept us in the game versus Neshaminy.”
Neshaminy coach Steve Wilmot: “His offensive line did a really nice job for him. The second thing is – all he needs is a little seam, and he can go from there. He was doing a great job. He was running the wildcat quarterback position, and all he needed was a little seam, and then before you know it, we were chasing him. He was doing a nice job.”

First star:  Brody McAndrew, Neshaminy – The sophomore quarterback completed 15-of-20 passes for 214 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions while leading Neshaminy to a 33-28 come-from-behind win over Abington. McAndrew’s fourth touchdown pass – a 15-yard completion to Cory Joyce with 1:25 remaining – propelled the Redskins to the win.
Coach Steve Wilmot says:  “We try not to load him up with too much stuff. We don’t put the whole game plan on his shoulders. Running is always plan A, and Brody is always plan B, but sometimes plan A hasn’t always worked out the way we want it to, so he’s been doing a nice job in there. The thing I’m most happy with is he’s having a lot of fun, which – at the end of the day – is the most important thing to me. He’s doing a nice job of taking care of the football, not throwing it to the other team, which is an important thing. He’s also real lucky to have the receivers that he has. They do a nice job of running their routes and getting open, and they’re fast. After they catch the ball, they can run. It’s nice to have those people to throw it to.”

Second star: Tim Shevlin, Quakertown – The senior wideout had seven receptions for 102 yards in Quakertown’s 26-20 win over Hatboro-Horsham. His 21-yard touchdown reception in traffic with .3 seconds remaining in the first half pulled the Panthers to within 20-9, and after Shevlin also caught a pass for the successful two-point conversion, the Panthers trailed by just a 20-11 score at halftime.

Third star: Sterlen Barr, Upper Moreland – The senior running back had 244 yards and four touchdowns in Upper Moreland’s 34-9 win over Cheltenham.

Sterling Limo Defensive Players of the Game:
First star:  Owen Thomas, North Penn –
The Villanova-bound linebacker led a dominant Knights’ defensive effort in North Penn’s 40-9 win over a Central Bucks South squad that brought a 5-0 record into the game. He finished with nine tackles – including one tackle for a loss and one sack. He also had one caused fumble and deflected a pass. On the offensive side, he had three receptions for 48 yards.

Coach Dick Beck says:  “On South’s significant drive of the first half, they took the ball inside the 10-yard line, and on second down and goal from about the seven, he blitzed inside and tackled the guy four yards in the backfield, which put them in a third-and-goal from outside the 10-yard line. That was a big play for us, plus he had a big sack at the end of the half where he caused a fumble, and we scored right at the end of the half to make it 26-3.
“He’s finally healthy. He’s been back 100 percent. I felt as though last week was really the first game that he was back where you felt he had his feet under him. He had a big offensive game against Pennridge where he had over 100 yards receiving and had a touchdown and a big catch over the middle. We’re working him in on both sides of the ball. He’s one of our best players, and you always want to get the ball in the hands of your best players.”

First star: Andrew Basalyga, Pennsbury – The senior inside linebacker delivered 19 tackles to lead a stellar defensive effort that was the story in Pennsbury’s 34-13 win over Bensalem.
Coach Dan McShane says:  “I’ve had Andrew since he was very, very young, and he’s one of the most coachable players I’ve ever had. He’s like a sponge. He loves learning football. He’s the whole package. He’s very bright, and he’s fast. We always say we look for three things in football players – smart, fast and tough. He plays offense, defense, and he’s on some special teams. He’s a real warrior.
“We talk to our kids about trusting what you see. You can’t just chase the ball. You have to play responsibly and with good vision, react to your keys. He’s coachable, and he believes in that, and that’s the fruit of his labor.”

Second Star, Kyle Schetter, Pennridge – The senior defensive back had five tackles – one for a loss – and an interception in Pennridge’s 35-28 win over Council Rock South. He also ran for 100 yards (14.2 YPC) and two touchdowns on seven carries in a strong all-around effort.

Third star:  Nick Tarburton, Pennridge – The senior linebacker had 12 tackles – including a tackle for a loss – in Pennridge’s 35-28 win over Council Rock South.

Sterling Limo Special Teams Players of the Game:
First star:  Ryan O’Connor, Neshaminy
– The Redskins’ junior returned a kickoff 76 yards for a touchdown, propelling Neshaminy to 21-12 halftime lead on its way to a 33-28 win.

Second star:  Kevin Buckland, Harry S Truman – Buckland made all eight of his extra points in Truman’s 56-28 win over Council Rock North.

Third star:  Kyle Cuthbert, Pennridge – The junior kicker was 5-for-5 on extra points in Pennridge’s 35-28 win over Council Rock South. Included in his extra points was one that was sideways on the block.

Lucas Roselli, Upper Dublin – The junior running back had 112 yards and a touchdown run of 63 yards in Upper Dublin’s 42-7 win over Wissahickon.
Sayyid Saunders, Harry S Truman – The senior running back had 109 yards and two touchdowns in Truman’s 56-28 win over Council Rock North.
Max Winebrake, Upper Dublin – The Flying Cardinals’ senior had a hand in 10 tackles – which included a pair of sacks – in Upper Dublin’s 42-7 win over Wissahickon.
