PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Sterling Limo Player of the Week
Brandon McIlwain, Council Rock North –
The junior quarterback accounted for all six of his team’s touchdowns in Rock North’s 40-25 win over Simon Gratz Charter. McIlwain had 11 carries for 165 yards and two touchdowns and threw 21 passes for 159 yards and four TDs. His stellar performance came on the heels of a four-touchdown effort in Rock North’s 29-27 win over Perkiomen Valley that saw him accumulate 439 yards of total offense and three TDs.
Coach Adam Collachi says:  “Brandon has developed into a true leader of the team. He has command of the offense and just has an unbelievable competitive nature that is seen every time he plays.  At the end of the game this week when I was told he accounted for six total touchdowns, I was amazed - we sometimes take his play for granted!"

Sterling Limo Offensive Player of the Week
Vince Alimenti, Council Rock South –
The senior running back stood tall at the end of a difficult week for Council Rock South and the entire community, scoring three touchdowns to spot his team an early 28-0 lead and leading the Golden Hawks to a 41-0 win over Bensalem. He finished the game with 143 yards on 14 carries with three touchdowns on runs of 18, 60 and two yards, putting up those numbers in less than a half of action.
Coach Vince Bedesem says:  “Vincent showed incredible leadership throughout the week.  He ran with such conviction and got great support from his offensive line. Vince continues to get better every week.”

Sterling Limo Defensive Player of the Week
Isaiah Samuel, Norristown –
On a night that saw the Eagles score a pair of defensive touchdowns in their 14-13 upset of Wissahickon, the senior middle linebacker intercepted a pass and ran it in for a touchdown. He also registered two tackles for losses, two hurries and six solo tackles.
Coach Jason Powel says:  “Isaiah has been a tremendous example of ‘hard work brings success.’ His work ethic on and off the field has been nothing short of excellent, and he is starting to shine in our system. With each game experience in our new system, he has been moving forward and last week showed flashes of what he and his teammates can achieve!”

Sterling Limo Special Teams Player of the Week
Matt Ammendola, North Penn –
The standout placekicker nailed a 27-yard field goal to propel the Knights’ to a 19-16 overtime win over West Catholic. For the night, Ammendola connected on four field goals of 37, 21, 30 and 27 yards. He also had five touchbacks.
Coach Dick Beck says:  “It’s certainly nice when we break down offensively that we can rely on him to kick the field goal. Every kickoff he’s had so far this year has been a touchback. He thought he rushed the (field goal) he missed at the end of the game. Sometimes if you’re the kicker, you can blame the snapper or the holder, but he took the blame. He was good last year too. We’re not one to use a kicker a lot, but we tried six field goals Friday night. That’s the most field goals we’ve tried probably in an entire year.”
