STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORTATION
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Sterling Limo Offensive Players of the Game:
First star: Jake Ventresca, Central Bucks East –
The junior running back had 120 yards and two touchdowns (and two more TDs called back) in Central Bucks East’s 29-14 win over Hatboro-Horsham. He also had 18 receiving yards and a 40-yard kickoff return for a total of 178 yards.
Coach John Donnelly says:  “First and foremost, the O-line did a really good job of establishing the line of scrimmage, and that certainly helped, and I know Jake would be the first to tell you that, but he also did a lot with his own running lanes, with his own athleticism. If you watched the film closely, he really utilized a lot of different types of runs. There were runs where he was explosive with straight line speed, there were times he stopped on a dime, there were times he cut back against the grain, there were times he used power and carried tacklers. He really displayed a lot of variety in the way he ran, which says a lot about him as an athlete. On top of that, he had two touchdowns that were called back, the one was 40-plus yards where he literally ducked under a tackle and then accelerated through the secondary to score. It was an amazing run, and it was a shame it got called back. He had total offense pushing 200 yards, and had the one not been called back, he was easily over 200 yards of total offense on top of playing corner too.”

Second star: John Kane, Council Rock North – The senior quarterback accounted for four touchdowns in Council Rock North’s 34-0 win over Wissahickon, rushing for 60 yards and two touchdowns and passing for 110 yards and two touchdowns.

Third star: Terence Rodgers, Harry S Truman – The junior running back had 126 yards and one touchdown on just nine carries to lead an explosive ground game that saw the team accumulate 361 yards in Harry S Truman’s 46-12 rout of Avon Grove.

Sterling Limo Defensive Players of the Week
First star: Nate Brown, North Penn – The junior linebacker and undisputed leader of the Knights’ defense turned in a stellar performance in North Penn’s impressive 21-13 win over perennial PCL power La Salle, finishing with seven solo tackles and four assists with one sack and two tackles for a loss.
Coach Dick Beck says:  “As a sophomore, we didn’t know anything about him, and in the first scrimmage, he was just making every single tackle in the jayvee scrimmage. We put him up with the varsity, and within a day, he was the starting inside linebacker. He’s a very good player, he’s extremely bright, and he’s a hard worker. Not only did he have a great game when it comes to production – he makes all our defensive calls. We have a sophomore in there, DJ Fisher, who’s playing because Nick Intrieri is hurt, and he’s really setting DJ up, aligning him correctly, making the correct calls. He’s got a real good head on his shoulders, and offensively, he’s playing a little fullback, a little H-back. We’ve been moving him around. He’s smart enough that he can handle all the positions. He’s invaluable.”

First star:  Chisom Ifeanyi, Neshaminy – The senior defensive end was a catalyst on a defensive line that spent the night pressuring the Rams’ quarterback into four interceptions in Neshaminy’s 27-14 win over Pennridge. Ifeanyii finished with three tackles and one assist, which included two tackles for a loss and a pair of sacks.
Coach Steve Wilmot says:  “This is Chisom’s third position change in three years. When he started here as a sophomore, he was a wide receiver and defensive back, and last year he moved up to linebacker. This year he really found a home on the defensive line. He’s gotten so much bigger, and he’s just a big, powerful kid. The thing about Chisom is he’s so coachable. He just wants to do a good job, he’s got a good motor – his motor goes every play. Whatever the coaches are trying to teach him, he just tries to soak it all in. Jon Craig is his position coach, and he said – the best thing about Chisom is he’s so coachable. You tell him to do stuff one time, and he does it. He’s just a great kid to have on the team.
“This year we’re kind of breaking tradition. Our guys are moving around a lot this year. We don’t have those typical big 6-1, 6-2 defensive linemen that plug up the middle. We have smaller, quicker guys, and they’re strong. What we’re doing is moving them around a lot and hoping the offensive line misses them. So far, that concept is working with them. On almost every single play, they’re doing some sort of stunt that’s called in from the sidelines.”

Second star:  Matt Checcia, Council Rock South – The senior defensive back had a pair of interceptions and anchored a defensive backfield that allowed just 59 passing yards in Council Rock South’s 10-7 overtime win over Central Bucks West.

Third star: James Koliyah, Harry S Truman – The senior linebacker led the defense with 10 tackles (one caused fumble, one tackle for a loss) in Harry S Truman’s 46-23 rout of Avon Grove.

Third star:  Drew Bethke, Central Bucks East – The senior standout anchored the defense and delivered 12 tackles in Central Bucks East’s 29-14 win over Hatboro-Horsham.

Honorable Mention
Jamir Barnes, Cheltenham –
The Panthers’ running back had three touchdown runs – including an 80-yard TD run – in Cheltenham’s 34-27 win over Bishop McDevitt.
Council Rock North Defense – In a standout effort, the defense allowed just 150 total yards in Council Rock North’s 34-0 shutout win over Wissahickon, finishing with four sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
Cason Hearn, Harry S Truman – The junior defensive back recovered a fumble in the end zone and raced 102 yards for a touchdown in Harry S Truman’s 46-23 rout of Avon Grove.

Max Perry, Springfield Township – The Spartans’ quarterback threw for three touchdowns and ran for another in Springfield Township’s 43-0 win over Lower Moreland.
