PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Sterling Limo Offensive Players of the Week
Nafeese Nasir, Plymouth Whitemarsh – Nasir was magnificent as the No. 16 seeded Colonials almost upset No. 1 seed Downingtown East 35-28 in the first round of the PIAA Quad-A District One playoffs.  Nasir rushed for a game-high 233 yards on 32 carries and scored two rushing touchdowns.  He also completed 4-of-5 passes and threw a touchdown pass.  Nasir finished the 2015 season with an astonishing 2083 rushing yards that included 28 touchdown runs.  He also caught two touchdown passes in addition to his touchdown pass.
Plymouth Whitemarsh head coach Dan Chang says: “I told him before the game that we were going to keep giving him the ball the whole game.  He made some great decisions and ran hard through tackles.  I think his toughness, vision, and intelligence were key to his success.  Once he got into open space, he had the speed to separate himself.  I think what really stands out to me through his senior year was his growth as a leader.  He will set some high standards for captains in future years.  Nafeese is getting strong interest from a wide variety of schools for next year – but nothing is set.”

Rodney Morgan, Upper Moreland – Morgan came up with an extraordinary performance for the Golden Bears in their 33-6 PIAA Class AAA District One playoff victory over Pottstown.  Morgan punished the Trojan defense with a ground attack that saw the talented senior rush for a game-high 313 yards and two touchdowns.  The superior outing will allow Upper Moreland to continue its season with a district semifinal game this week as the No. 2 seeded Golden Bears will host No. 6 seed Marple Newtown.
Upper Moreland head coach Adam Beach says:  “Rodney is a very explosive, powerful runner who can run over players.  The biggest thing about him is his ability to stick his nose through a small hole in the line and come out the other side.  There are a lot of defenses that don’t expect him to be able to get through a hole that small – and his power can extend runs.  And he can carry the ball all night long.”

Ryan Stover, Upper Dublin – Stover was a dual threat and accounted for 334 yards of total offense in Upper Dublin’s 35-3 rout of Garnet Valley in an opening round District One Quad-A contest. The senior quarterback completed 10-of-19 passes for 205 yards and a touchdown. He also had eight carries for 129 yards and four touchdowns, which included an 83-yard touchdown run. Upper Dublin will host sixth-seeded Upper Darby on Friday night.
Coach Bret Stover says:  “Ryan has really ramped up his game the last four weeks. He has become a true dual threat quarterback. Of course, he couldn’t do any of it without the boys up front leading the way.”

Sterling Limo Defensive Players of the Week
Noah Wood & Kyle Baskin, Quakertown – the Panthers needed a superlative defensive effort to advance to the PIAA Quad-A District One quarterfinals – and Q-town got just that from junior Noah Wood and senior Kyle Baskin in the Black Cats 7-6 victory over Central Bucks East.  Wood made numerous tackles from his inside linebacker position to short circuit an explosive Patriot running attack – and Baskin intercepted two critical passes in the final quarter from his cornerback position to preserve the win.
Quakertown head coach George Banas says:  “Noah is our leader on defense – he makes all the defensive calls.  He has a nose for the ball – and despite being banged up – he continues to make plays.  I joke with him sometimes about being so small that the other team doesn’t see him, but he is always around the ball.  Kyle is in his first year playing defense – and he has been the one that typically plays the other team’s best receiver.  He is going to be a great fit at Columbia next year – and offensively he is a big target that can catch the ball over the middle.  And he is a nice kid.”

Sterling Limo ‘Dean’s List’
Brandon McIlwain of Council Rock North closed out his sensational career with still another sensational game as the Indians fell to Upper Darby – 59-34 – in a PIAA Quad-A District One playoff game.  McIlwain rushed for 204 yards and four touchdowns and also returned a kickoff 86 yards for a Rock North touchdown.  McIlwain finished the 2015 season with an incredible 1528 yards rushing on 225 carries and 30 touchdowns – and completed 148 passes for 1727 yards and 17 touchdowns. Wow!

Sterling Limo ‘Honor Roll’
Joe Pirrone, Will Dogba, and Mason Jones of Neshaminy had key performances as the Redskins captured a 31-16 PIAA Quad-A District One victory over Spring-Ford.  Pirrone rushed for a game-high 113 yards on 27 carries; Dogba scored two rushing touchdowns, and Jones completed 11 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown for the winners.
Mike Alley of Pennsbury scored two rushing touchdowns – including the game winner in overtime – as the Falcons soared to a 35-28 victory over # 2 seed Downingtown West in a PIAA Quad-A District One playoff game.  Alley also threw a touchdown pass for the winners.

Nick Isabella, Nyfease West, and Reece Udinski of North Penn had key performances as the Knights marched to a 48-7 PIAA Quad-A District One victory over Unionville.  Isabella rushed for 105 yards and scored three touchdowns; West rushed for a game-high 111 yards; and Udinski completed 11 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown.
Justin Hill of Springfield was the touchdown maker as the Spartans marched to a 26-12 PIAA Class AA District One victory over Bristol.  Hill fired a two touchdowns passes – and ran for a third score – to spark the Springfield offense.
Alex Gibson of Central Bucks East rushed for a game-high 142 yards and scored a touchdown as the Patriots season came to a close in a 7-6 loss to Quakertown.
Casey Walsh of Hatboro-Horsham completed 18 passes for 329 yards and two touchdowns as the Hatters were topped 38-31 in overtime in a non-league game against Owen J Roberts.
