STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORATION
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Neshaminy – Jack Spingler & Denzel Hughes - The Redskins used huge defensive plays from Spingler and game-breaking offensive plays from Hughes to secure a 31-17 PIAA Quad-A District One quarterfinal win over Quakertown.  Spingler was the key to Neshaminy’s defensive success, generating no less than four turnovers against the Panthers.  Springler – a hybrid safety/linebacker – came up with three interceptions and a fumble recovery for the Skins. Hughes scored on a spectacular 60-yard touchdown pass from Mason Jones – caught seven passes in all for 121 yards – and also scored on an electric 76-yard punt return.
Coach Steve Wilmot says:  “After watching the film, I was really impressed with Jack. It was almost like he had a sixth sense out there. There were the receivers in front of him, and he wasn’t even looking. He just kind of sensed that receiver and turned back and picked the ball off. There might have been some communication going on out there, but I was really impressed how he would be running one way and then he would turn back at the right time, and the ball would be right in his hands. I think that’s a lot of preparation, but it’s also just plain old being a good linebacker on his part too.
“Denzel showed a tremendous burst of speed on both of his big plays. On his long touchdown, Mason Jones just put it up just outside of him, right where he was supposed to, and Denzel had to run underneath it. I think he showed a terrific burst of speed to get underneath it. The same could be said for his 76-yard punt return. Quakertown has a real good punter, and they punted a big one. We had good blocking out of front of him, and Denzel just did the rest. There were some good blocks, but Denzel showed a terrific burst of speed to get down the sidelines.”

Keith Earle, North Penn – In North Penn’s 27-14 win over top-seeded Downingtown East, Keith Earle was a game changer on defense, delivering four sacks.
North Penn coach Dick Beck says:  “I think the key to stopping their passing game and not giving (Cary) Angeline a chance to get off on us where he was catching the ball all over the place was the pass rush. We tried to jam him at the line of scrimmage, and when the quarterback has to hesitate, the rush can get to him, which was big, because I think that happened a little bit. Keith came up big with four sacks, plus he had a great game blocking (at tight end).”

Pennsbury, Mike Alley, Rob Daly, Joe Maurer & Luke Snyder – On the offensive side of the football, Alley did it all as Pennsbury captured a 41-28 PIAA Quad-A District One quarterfinal playoff victory over host Perkiomen Valley.  The senior quarterback found pay dirt three times rushing the football and also threw a touchdown pass to senior Luke Snyder.  Alley finished the game with 86 rushing yards and 85 passing yards for a total of 171 total yards. The Falcons had to overcome a lackluster first half, and it was the superior play of the Pennsbury defense that set the tone for the victory in the second half. In addition to hauling in a touchdown reception, Snyder had seven tackles – three for a loss – as well as an interception. Daly – who had 71 yards rushing – had six tackles. Mauer had a pair of sacks.
Coach Galen Snyder says:  “A lot of kids did a good job. Rob made a lot of big tackles in the second half. They had some success throwing to our short side, and Rob went over there and did a nice job in the second half, kind of shutting that down. Mike played well. He does a good job of completing pass opportunities when he has a chance to throw it, and obviously, he runs the ball. Luke really played well for us also, and Joe had both of his sacks in the second half. They had been tough to stop in the first half, and we had to get pressure on the QB, so the defense really stepped up in the second half. Joe had a couple of big sacks.

Upper Dublin Defense – The Cardinals had to have a superior team defensive effort to shut down the explosive Upper Darby offense in Upper Dublin’s 45-14 victory over the Royals in a PIAA Quad-A District One quarterfinal game.  Upper Darby senior running back Isaiah Bruce entered the game fresh off a dazzling 373-yard – seven-touchdown performance against CR North the week before in an opening round playoff game.  Bruce finished with 114 yards on 19 carries – but 104 of those yards came on just two carries.  The remaining 17 carries for the Royal star running back netted just 10 yards.

Rodney Morgan, Upper Moreland – Morgan once again fueled the Golden Bear offense in a 28-20 come-from-behind victory over Marple Newtown.  The senior rushed a game-high 34 times for a game-high 266 yards and scored three rushing touchdowns on runs of 23, 53, and 19 yards.  Morgan also caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Casey Decker.

SuburbanOneSports.com Honor Roll
Will Dogba, Neshaminy - Dogba – who saw limited time the previous week due to a high-ankle injury – came back with a vengeance rushing a game-high 28 times for a game-high 141 yards and two touchdowns in Neshaminy’s 31-17 quarterfinal win over Quakertown.
Nick Pagano, North Penn – The Golden Bears found themselves fighting for their PIAA Class AAA District One playoff lives last week.  Upper Moreland trailed Marple Newtown before a couple of turnovers helped the Bears claim the 28-20 victory – and it was Pagano who came up with a couple of key interceptions for the winners.
Dante Stewart, & Dante Watson, North Penn – The Knight defense played what Coach Dick Beck felt was its best game of the season in a 27-14 victory over Downingtown East in a PIAA Quad-A District One quarterfinal game. Stewart played an outstanding game at middle linebacker with 12 tackles, and Watson limited the explosiveness of Cougar tight end Cary Angeline (USC recruit).
Ryan Stover & Stacey Gardner – The Cardinals continued their season long effectiveness on the offensive side of the ball with a 45-14 victory over Upper Darby in a PIAA Quad-A quarterfinal game.  Stover fired touchdown passes of five yards to Jack Rapine, 23-yards to Rapine, and 86-yards to Danny Boggs.  Gardner – back from missing four games due to a high-ankle sprain – rushed nine times for a game-high 114-yards and two touchdowns.
Nyfease West, Reece Udinksi & Ricky Johns, North Penn  – The Knight offense helped North Penn avenge a 28-24 loss in the third game of the season to Downingtown East with a strong performance in its 27-14 victory over the Cougars in the PIAA Quad-A District quarterfinal game.  West rushed for a game-high 243 yards on 33 carries and scored two touchdowns for the winners; Udinski completed 11 of 17 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns – and Johns caught seven passes for 167 yards.
