Sterling Limo Players of the Week

Sterling Limo Defensive Players of the Week
Kane O’Connor, Isaiah Henrich & Stacey Gardner - Upper Dublin –The ferocious Cardinal defense was issued a huge challenge in its PIAA Quad-A District One semifinal game against Pennsbury – stop the powerful Falcon running attack.  Pennsbury had literally run roughshod over both Downingtown West (35-28) and Perkiomen Valley (41-28) on its way to the date with Upper Dublin.  The Cardinal defense – led by O’Connor, Henrich, and Gardner – was awesome as it held the ‘Ground & Pound’ Falcons to a meager 49 yards rushing – and 176 yards of total offense.
Upper Dublin Head Coach Bret Stover says – “Kane flipped-flopped back and forth on the defensive line against their big offensive tackle.  He controlled the gaps and made it possible for other defenders to make plays.  Isaiah is just a madman out there and controls our defense.  He always seems to play big in the big games.  Stacey is back from injury and really controlled the game from sideline to sideline.  Every time we reviewed the film – Stacey was getting off the bottom of the pile after making a tackle.”

Sterling Limo Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Brendan Mack, Cheltenham –Mack closed out his scholastic career with a marvelous performance against rival Abington as the Panthers captured a 41-36 victory over the Ghosts.  Mack – who will take his remarkable talents to Temple University next season – passed for 221 yards and two touchdowns in the win, while also rushing for 92 yards.  Mack was perhaps the most dangerous two-threat quarterback in the Suburban One League American Conference this season.
Abington Head Coach Tim Sorber says – “When you see Brendan Mack play you say to yourself ‘Wow – that’s what a Division One football player looks like.’ He was by far the best player that we have faced all season.  In our game they put him at corner and completely shut down a lot of what we did in our passing game.  And on offense he made three fourth down conversions to keep drives going.  I like him maybe as a safety in college – but (Cheltenham head coach) Joe (Gro) thinks he might be a wide receiver.  He can play both sides of the ball – and wherever he plays he is going to be good.  He might be the best player Cheltenham has ever had.”

Sterling Limo Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Rob Burns, Quakertown – Burns has been the ‘the guy’ in the Panther backfield all season, and the diminutive running back was the ‘the guy’ in the second half as Quakertown rallied back from a 21-0 halftime deficit to edge the rival Pennridge Rams 28-21 on Thanksgiving morning.  Burns – who rushed for a game-high 134 yards and scored three touchdowns – also set the Quakertown career rushing record.  Burns – who finished his illustrious career with the Panthers with 3778 yards – eclipsed the record of 3766 yards by Tony Latronica.
Quakertown Head Coach George Banas says – “Rob always had the burst of speed that could make plays go the distance.  And this year he worked hard in the weight room – gained 10-15 pounds of muscle – and now has added power to his game.  He is a good blocker – and can now run through people in the tackle box.  Kutztown has shown an interest in him and I think it would be a great fit for him.”

Sterling Limo Special Teams Player of the Week
Tim Kenny-Schwartz, Truman – Kenny-Schwartz was squarely in the spotlight with his Tigers down 17-15 with just nine seconds left in the game against neighborhood rival Conwell-Egan.  Kenny-Schwartz – who had already booted field goals of 20 and 24 yards earlier in the game – awaited a snap and hold from teammates at the 34-yard line.  The kick split the uprights – and Kenny-Schwartz and his fellow Truman seniors were able to leave the field as 18-17 winners over the Eagles.
Truman Head Coach Jon Craig says:  “Tim always seems calm when it is his turn to attempt a big kick.  There was no second-guessing about going for the field goal – we knew he was going to make it.  He is never stressed by the big moment.  Plus he is our offensive tackle and a four-year starter at middle linebacker.  He rarely is off the field – we’re glad he is on our team.”

Sterling Limo – ‘Dean’s List’
Rodney Morgan of Upper Moreland rushed for a game-high 179 yards and scored a touchdown as the Golden Bears suffered a 26-14 loss to Academy Park in the PIAA Class AAA District One final.  Morgan had a spectacular postseason for Upper Moreland with 877 rushing yards and six touchdowns in just three playoff games.

Nyfease West of North Penn carried the offensive load for the Knights in a 28-7 PIAA Quad-A District One semifinal victory over Neshaminy.  West rushed for a game-high 226 yards on 26 carries and scored two touchdowns.  The victory will send North Penn – winners of its last 10 games – into the district finals against unbeaten Upper Dublin.

Isaiah Graham-Mobley of Upper Merion had a terrific final contest on Thanksgiving morning as the Vikings sailed to a 33-21 victory over Norristown.  Graham-Mobley scored the first three touchdowns of the game to fuel the Upper Merion scoring.  Graham-Mobley scored on a touchdown run, scored on a touchdown pass, and also recovered a fumble that he returned for a touchdown.

David Kretscham of Abington closed out his fine career with the Ghosts in a losing effort against Cheltenham on Thanksgiving morning.  Kretscham completed 13 passes for 251 yards and a touchdown in Abington’s 41-36 loss to the Panthers.  Darryl Davis-McNeil of Abington scored four touchdowns in the game for the Ghosts.
Jarrett Jenkins of Cheltenham scored four touchdowns as the Panthers collected a 41-36 victory over rival Abington on Thanksgiving morning.
Juden Desrosiers of Pennridge scored three touchdowns in the first half as the Rams were defeated by visiting Quakertown 28-21 at Helman Field in Perkasie.
DiVante Lloyd of Norristown threw a pair of touchdown passes as the Eagles were defeated by host Upper Merion 33-21 on Thanksgiving.
