Sterling Limo Players of the Week (Week 3)

Sterling Limousine and Transportation Services of Wrightstown is proud to recognize the Players of the Week. Players are chosen based on the nomination of coaches as well as SuburbanOneSports.com’s football writers.

STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORATION
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Sterling Limo Offensive Player of the Week:
Brendan Patterson, Council Rock South –Patterson had a terrific game in defeat as the Golden Hawks fell to Neshaminy 27-25.  Patterson gouged the Redskin defense for 290 yards and two long distance touchdowns.  Patterson scored on runs of 56 and 63 yards and also had a run of 75 yards fall a single yard short of a third touchdown.
Coach Vince Bedesem says:  “Brendan Patterson has been one of the most consistent players the last two years. It's not surprising because of his hard work ethic and his dedication for the team. Brendan's leadership is as important to us as his physical play.”

Sterling Limo Defensive Player of the Week:
Jack Spingler, Neshaminy – Spingler had a remarkable game in the Redskins 27-25 victory over Council Rock South.  Spingler stopped a game-tying two-point conversion with 24 seconds left in the game. The senior outside linebacker also intercepted a pass, recovered a fumble and blocked an extra point to go along with three solo tackles (including a tackle for a loss) and one assist.
Coach Steve Wilmot says:  “Jack had a lot of opportunities to help us this week. A couple of times he was in the right spot at the right time, and that isn’t luck. Jack does what he’s coached to do. He had a real important fumble recovery for us at the beginning of the game. He had a blocked extra point, and without blocking that, it could be a whole different game. He had an interception with a 25-yard return, and he had that big tackle at the end of the game on the two-point conversion. The best thing I can say about Jack is he’s in the right place at the right time, and he does that because he’s a good football player, and that’s what good football players do.
“Jack is like a hybrid. Last year he played defensive back for us. This year in our regular defense, he plays outside linebacker, but sometimes he’s asked to play back in the secondary, sometimes he’s asked to play linebacker, and we actually had him on the line a few times – he was almost like a fifth defensive lineman. We ask him to do a lot of different things, and he’s a good football player, and he can pull it off.”

Sterling Limo Special Teams Player of the Week:
Brian Stella, Central Bucks East – Stella was a huge contributor in the Patriots’ 40-27 victory over Central Bucks South.  Stella blocked two punts to spark the East special team’s play.
Coach John Donnelly says:  “Brian has a knack, desire, and skill to block kicks.  We saw that already last year in the pre-season when he was a sophomore.  Unfortunately, injury kept him out of the entire year last year, so we knew what we had in him this year not only as a player who pound for pound is perhaps the toughest on our team, but also very skilled at blocking kicks. Our Special Teams Coordinator, Tim Barno, does a great job of preparing all of our specials.  Our players understand the absolute importance of this phase of the game.  Brian blocked a punt in Week 1, just over ran a block in Week 2, and then had two blocks last week.  It was a pretty special day for a lot of reasons, but one of them was that we retired Bryan Scott's #32 and the 2015 version of #32 represented the jersey very well in blocking two punts.  Brian Stella is an unselfish, gritty player.  He plays the game the right way:  Tough, blue collar, and physical.”

National Conference

Sterling Limo National Conference Offensive Player of the Week:
Chris Rupprecht, Pennsbury – Rupprecht rushed for a game-high 183 yards and scored four touchdowns in the Falcons 41-19 victory over Council Rock North. He was one of three players to surpass the 100-yard plateau, joining Daulton Hose and Mike Alley to reach that mark.
Coach Galen Snyder says:  “Chris is real physical back, and he runs hard. He’s definitely an issue for defenses to deal with. At the same time, we have Dalton Hose, and Robert Daly, who also carries the ball for us, and Mike Alley, who’s the quarterback. Luke (Snyder) is just blocking right now, but I might give him a carry every once in a while. We have a good group. Chris is doing a great job, and we’re excited about what he and the rest of the group will be doing for us.”

Continental Conference

Sterling Limo Continental Conference Defensive Player:
Quentin Mulbah, Truman – Mulbah registered eight tackles and forced a fumble as the Tigers captured a 21-7 victory over Bensalem.
Coach Jon Craig says: “Quentin is going into his fourth year this year. We switched positions on him this year to get him on the field. He was always a linebacker, and we moved him to the D-line. He handled the situation well. Some kids don’t really want to make the move from their home position, but he wanted to do what was best for our team. We put him there, and he’s flourished. He had a great game week one against West Chester Rustin. His play on Saturday was huge for us on defense. He was able to get a lot of pressure on the quarterback and made a few plays behind the line of scrimmage, and that’s hopefully what he’ll do moving forward for us.”
