Sterling Limo Players of the Week (Week 6)

Sterling Limousine and Transportation Services of Wrightstown is proud to recognize the Players of the Week for each conference. Players are chosen based on the nomination of coaches.

NATIONAL CONFERENCE

Sterling Limousine National Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week – Alex Perks, William Tennent
The senior running back, in a remarkable display of courage, not only played in Friday’s night’s game against Bensalem three days after his mother lost her battle with cancer, Perks also excelled. He rushed for 176 yards, and it was his 85-yard TD run that pulled the Panthers to within one. Perks capped a brilliant performance by crossing the goal line for a successful two-point conversion and the emotional win.
Coach Bob Rosenberger says:  “His performance on Friday was indicative of the whole year with him. He’s a selfless kid, he’s a tough kid, and the performance he put on Friday night was perfect for him because of the tragedy he’d been through. I didn’t even think he was going to play, but he showed up on Friday, and we made the decision we were just going to keep giving him the ball. It was his night and his mother’s night, and fortunately for us, he came through, and for him, I think it helped ease the pain a little bit, not much but just a little bit for what he and his family were going through.”

Sterling Limousine National Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week – Tyler Wombough, Neshaminy
The senior quarterback had been a key part of Neshaminy’s impressive start to the season. In the ‘Skins 42-20 win over Council Rock North, Wombough completed 9-of-10 passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns.
Coach Mark Schmidt says:  “Tyler is a an unselfish player who worked very hard in the preseason to improve his game. His continued improvement has brought balance and diversity to our offense. We are expecting consistent production from Tyler as we head into a very difficult final month of the season.”

Sterling Limousine National Conference Defensive Player of the Week – Victor Delgado, Pennsbury
It was another brilliant defensive performance by the Falcons, who allowed just 122 yards of total offense in a 37-0 shutout of Abington. The junior strong safety, the Falcons’ Defensive Player of the Game, had nine tackles.
Coach Galen Snyder says:  “When teams try to run wide, Victor sets the edge, and he not only sets the edge, he makes the tackles most of the time. When teams try to run wide, he typically blows up the plays. He runs well, and he’s tough. He started for us last year as a sophomore.”

CONTINENTAL CONFERENCE

Sterling Limousine Continental Co-Offensive Player of the Week  - Alex Gibson, Central Bucks East
The sophomore running back had another monster game for the Patriots, accumulating 299 yards on the ground and four touchdowns in East’s loss to West. It was his second 200-plus yard performance in as many weeks, this time in front of a packed house for Friday’s rivalry game between the sister schools. He was 25 yards short of a school rushing record.
Coach John Donnelly says:  “Alex had a phenomenal game on a huge stage. His ability to cut and accelerate at full speed is truly a gift. Alex had some big holes to run through, but he also made people miss or simply ran by defenders. He is one of the most talented athletes I have ever coached, but what sets him apart is his work ethic, which is second to none. He reminds me a lot of Tony Latronica (the former Quakertown running back and holder of seven school records).”

Sterling Limousine Continental Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week – John Fitz, Central Bucks West
The senior quarterback will be taking his baseball talents to Lehigh University next year, but in the meantime, he’s having a record-shattering senior season at QB. Fitz completed 18-of-23 passes for 318 yards with four touchdown passes and no interceptions in West’s 42-34 win over Central Bucks East. He also carried the ball for 69 yards and one touchdown. His 318 yards passing is a new school record.
Coach Brian Hensel says:  “He just continues to grow each week as a player and as a leader. Last week, our defense was really struggling in making stops on a good offensive team, and he kept us in there, making good offensive decisions with both the run and the passes at the right time. He set a school record for passing with 318 yards in a single game. He had targets to go to, and he’ll be the first to say, ‘It’s the other guys catching the ball.’ He’s just a quiet leader, and he hates to draw any kind of attention to himself. He’s very good at deflecting to others and saying, ‘Great job. You guys are the ones that got it done,’ and you love to see that. He continues to grow each week in his decision-making process of which play to get into and, once we’re in the play, how to execute it. He deserves credit because he’s worked hard at it over the last few months.”

Sterling Limousine Continental Conference Co-Two-Way Player of the Game – AJ Curotto, Souderton
The senior quarterback threw a 65-yard touchdown pass on fourth-and-two to lead the Indians to an electrifying 32-29 come-from-behind win over Pennridge in front of a packed house. Curotto was 6-for-11 for 151 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran the ball 14 times for 52 yards and two TDs. On the defensive side of the ball, he had five tackles. All told, he had over 200 yards of total offense and four TDs and continues to lead the team in tackles, playing every snap on both sides of the ball.
Coach Ed Gallagher says:  “AJ Curotto is the heart and soul of our team. He personifies everything we’re looking for in a student-athlete, and he refuses to come off the field (unless injured). His leadership has guided us through a challenging 0-5 start, and he willed us to victory on Friday night with an outstanding performance.”

Sterling Limousine Continental Conference Co-Two-Way Player of the Game – Joe Ramos, Central Bucks West
The senior wide receiver/defensive back hauled in eight passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns in West’s big win over East. On the defensive side of the football, he had a key interception and also blocked an extra point attempt.
Coach Brian Hensel says: “He’s coming up big at the right times for us. He has five interceptions this year, three of them were to seal games for victories. He scored a touchdown with 3.3 seconds left in the first half to give us the lead going into halftime this week. He’s just a clutch player. He plays with raw emotion and backs it up with athleticism. Joe has blocked two extra points and a field goal this year, he’s one of the top tacklers in our secondary, and he’s one of our leading receivers. He’s a guy we call upon in so many situations in all phases of the game.”

AMERICAN CONFERENCE

Sterling Limousine American Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week – Michael Marino, Wissahickon
With the Trojans’ two leading rushers out of the game, the sophomore quarterback stepped up to help make the game competitive in a loss to Plymouth Whitemarsh. Marino completed 11-of-21 passes for 136 yards and three touchdowns.
Coach Jeff Cappa says:  “Michael is a ‘football kid.’ He has great technique and an outstanding knowledge of the game as a sophomore. He’s a tremendous leader and truly works hard in practice and in the weight room.”

Sterling Limousine American Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week – Jhaloni Johnson, Springfield
The junior running back carried the ball seven times for 77 yards. He also had three receptions for 22 yards and two touchdowns. All told, he had three TDs in the Spartans’ 33-31 win over Upper Merion.
Coach Chris Shelly says:  "Both Malik and Jhaloni have led our team throughout their careers with their energy and playmaking abilities. Without a doubt, they have the ability to play at the next level, and we are hoping that colleges will start taking notice."

Sterling Limousine American Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week - Malik Ball, Springfield
The senior linebacker had seven tackles, three assists and three clutch sacks and, according to coach Christ\ Shelly, was all over the field in Springfield’s 33-31 win over Upper Merion.
Coach Chris Shelly says:  "Both Malik and Jhaloni have led our team throughout their careers with their energy and playmaking abilities. Without a doubt, they have the ability to play at the next level, and we are hoping that colleges will start taking notice."

Sterling Limousine American Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week – Tim Rasmussen, Upper Dublin
The junior linebacker recorded four solo tackles and three assists. He also caused two fumbles and intercepted a pass in Upper Dublin’s 49-14 win over Cheltenham.
