Sterling Limo Players of the Week (Wk 1)

Sterling Limousine and Transportation Services of Wrightstown is proud to recognize the Players of the Week for each conference. Players are chosen based on the nomination of coaches with input from the SuburbanOneSports.com football beat writers.

NATIONAL CONFERENCE

Sterling Limousine Offensive Player of the Week – Craig Reynolds, Abington
The senior running back rushed for 144 yards and four touchdowns in Abington’s 53-22 win over Samuel Fels. He also had a big day at free safety, intercepting a pass and running it back for a TD in his first start at that position.
Coach Tim Sorber says: “Whenever you have a player score five touchdowns in a game – regardless of how they do it, that’s pretty special. It doesn’t happen a lot. We expect Craig offensively to do what he did on Friday. I thought defensively in his first start at free safety – he did a lot of nice things. The interception return for a touchdown was a really smart play by him - understanding the formation. By him watching film, he was in the right spot and made a nice play on the interception and took it the distance. It wasn’t just those five plays for touchdowns – I thought he played a nice game all around.”

Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Week – Luke Carrezola, Neshaminy
The senior defensive lineman was credited with three tackles – two for a loss – as well as two hurries and one sack for a loss of 15 yards to lead a Redskin defense that did not allow a point in Neshaminy’s 33-0 win over Northeast last Friday.
Coach Mark Schmidt says:  “Luke worked extremely hard in the offseason to improve himself on both sides of the ball. We are pleased he got off to a positive start against Northeast. However, we are looking for even bigger things Friday as we get ready for a great challenge in Downingtown West.”

CONTINENTAL CONFERENCE

Sterling Limousine Co-Offensive Player of the Week – Jack Morris, Hatboro-Horsham
Morris excelled on both sides of the football as he led the Hatters to their first win since a 14-13 win over Quakertown on Oct. 5, 2012, their lone win of the season. In last Friday’s 21-14 win over Norristown, Morris – in his first start at quarterback – completed 15-of-28 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns. On the defensive side of the football, he had five tackles and one pass broken up.

Coach Mike Kapusta says:  “In his first varsity start, Jack showed incredible courage and competitiveness against a very physical and aggressive defense. He never came off the field, coming up with huge plays on both sides of the ball.”

Sterling Limousine Co-Offensive Player of the Week – Josh Adams, Central Bucks South
The junior running back was a one-man wrecking crew in the Titans’ 31-21 win over Council Rock South in last Friday’s opener, accounting for 266 of his team’s 292 rushing yards. He also had all four of his team’s touchdowns and averaged 11.0 yards per carry.
Coach Dave Rackovan says:  “Josh Adams played an outstanding game. He is maturing as a runner and is becoming a threat in all phases of the game.”

AMERICAN CONFERENCE

Sterling Limousine Offensive Player of the Game – Brendan Doyle, Springfield
The Spartans’ senior quarterback rushed for 141 yards and four touchdowns. He completed all three of his pass attempts for 81 yards and two touchdowns. All told, he had six TDs in Springfield’s 48-13 win over Lower Moreland in Friday’s opener.
Coach Chris Shelly says:  “Brendan Doyle stepped up big time for us filling in for injured QB Chris Stone. A captain of our team, he is respected and followed by every one of his teammates. He is a natural athlete with mental toughness and a strong competitive fire. Always an excellent runner - he has surprised us with his improved passing ability. He played four years on varsity for us in many positions - the bottom line is he is a gamer. He just makes play wherever he plays.”

Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game –Jimmy Gorman, Wissahickon
The senior linebacker recorded six solo tackles and two sacks in Wissahickon’s 34-15 win over William Tennent last Friday, sparking a Trojans’ defense that allowed Tennent to accumulate just 163 yards of total offense.
Coach Jeff Cappa says:  "Jimmy had an excellent camp and first week of the season. His preparation and leadersihp have been outstanding. We're really proud of the effort he and his teammates have put forth up to this point."
