PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Shyne Roberts, Upper Dublin – The senior running back turned in a career performance in Upper Dublin’s 53-42 win over neighboring Wissahickon. Roberts had 19 carries for 334 yards and seven touchdowns – a program record, finishing with TD runs of 75, 66, 49, 45, 17, 12 and one yard(s). For good measure, he also was a force on defense, forcing and recovering a fumble.

Coach Bret Stover said: Shyne’s performance was one for the ages. They carted him off (with an injury), and I’m thinking, ‘He’s done for the night,’ and all of a sudden, he comes up and taps me and said, ‘I’m good.’ I said, ‘All right, get in.’
“I know Joe Mastromatto had six (touchdowns) in a game against Perk Valley back in ’08, but seven – I was actually shocked he had seven because I’ll spread the ball around. I’ll give somebody else a carry, so they can get a touchdown here and a touchdown there. I never got around to it because he kept breaking off long runs.”
