PANTHER INVITATIONAL
Karly Brown from Archbishop Wood used a blistering two-under par on the back nine to propel herself to the individual title at the Panther Invitational with an 18-hole score of 72. Teammate John Mallozzi finished in third with a 77.

A strong team effort from William Tennent resulted in the Panthers defending the team title.

“It’s nice to get them out there,” coach Fred DiChiara said. “Four of my guys are back from last year, but two of the guys are pretty new to the varsity, so it’s a good experience for them and a good chance to get 18 holes under their belts.”

Tennent’s Ryan Borrmann finished second overall with a 76, and juniors Dan McCabe and Colin Walsh finished in a three-way tie for fourth with 78s.

“We had two guys that were under 40 on both sides (Borrmann and Walsh) and a kid that had a 37 and 41 (McCabe), and that’s where I expected those kids to be,” DiChiara said.

Seniors David Scott finished with an 84, and sophomore Ryan Foley and freshman Stephen Skiba both finished with a 94.

Cheltenham edged Quakertown for third place, led by an 80 from Stephen DeFrancis. Jack McHugh contributed an 83, and Luke Fisher and 87. For Quakertown, Calvin Suk’s 78 placed him in a tie for fourth overall. Quakertown also received an 89 from Ryan Stainer.
Quakertown and Cheltenham used Tuesday’s invitational as an opportunity to play its two SOL matches with Quakertown defeating Cheltenham on the front nine (217-223) while Cheltenham exacted revenge on the back nine, winning 218-223.
