World Series are meant for the best teams and this weekend’s games proved that point. In their second game of the series on Saturday afternoon, Tri-Township fell to a hot California team and pitcher. On Sunday, the team Tri-Township defeated in the Series Opener, Alabama, defeated California, which meant Tri-Township needed a win to keep their championship hopes alive...so Tri-Township did what they do best - they responded the pressure of the moment and the need to rebound as they did in States and Regionals, and they rebounded with a an impressive victory.

In States, down by three runs in the Championship game, they scored four. In Regionals, they lost one game but then responded with victories of 7-0, 7-1, and 3-0 to win it all.

Sunday afternoon was very reminiscent of their Regional rebound with Tri-Township making it a shortened game, 10-running their opponent in an 11-1 win.

Tri-Township was led by the effective pitching of Eddie Decker, who yielded only one run, and a solid defense that made no errors, making the game quick, efficient, and successful. Robert Knox, batting second, lined a double to the outfield. After he advanced to third on a fly-out, he saw an opportunity and stole home, scoring the first run and giving Tri-County a lead they never gave up.

In the bottom of the second, Pat Driscoll walked, then advanced to second after Dennis Long put the ball into play and the fielder could not handle his hot shot. Kyle Irwin followed with a single, plating another run. Robert Knox hit a sacrifice fly that scored a run. Pat Reilly followed and cleared the bases with a two-run home run. Bailey Hammer and Bradley Stoltzfus both walked and then executed a double steal. Charlie Hooker knocked in a run, and Pat Driscoll followed with a double that scored two more.

Tri-Township wasn’t finished yet. In the fourth inning, Bailey Hammer singled, and Bradley Stoltzfus reached base on error. Charlie Hooker doubled, knocking in the second run of the inning. Tri-Township scored their final run in the sixth, bringing an early end to the game when Pat Reilly doubled and scored on a Pat Driscoll single.  Tri-Township rebounded, and everyone contributed.

Tri-County returns to action on Monday evening, hoping to earn a berth into the Championship Round. Tri-Township. The team’s current record is 2-1.
