Wissahickon Boys Water Polo defeats LaSalle

Submitted by Jim Beyer

On Wednesday October 17, 2012 the Wissahickon Boys Varsity Water Polo team defeated LaSalle for the second time this season, winning 8-5. LaSalle only lost two games this season, both at the hands of the Trojans. LaSalle is the first seed in the upcoming Eastern Conference finals. Once again the Trojans played smart water polo by taking high percentage shots, dropping back on defense and playing as a TEAM.  Luke Waechter lead the Trojans with three goals, three steals and a kick out drawn. Eun Bae also scored three goals, had two assists and a steal. Brad Jones had two goals 2 steals and one kick out drawn. Defensively, the Trojans also had a great game. Mac Hennesey was phenomenal in goal with 17 saves. Greg Beyer, Billy McFarland, Brad Jones, and Alex Bolen all blocked shots by LaSalle’s offense. Greg Beyer shut down one of LaSalle’s leading scorers, and had three steals. Billy McFarland also had three steals.  It was a great effort and fitting last game of an awesome regular season for the Trojan boys. Next stop, the Eastern Conference Championships on Saturday at Sounderton (first game at 11:00 am).
