WIssahickon wins in First Round of PIAA Tournament

The Wissahickon High School Boys Tennis defeated Parkland High School in the 1st round of the PIAA Boys State Team Tennis Tournament in Allentown 4 - 0.

At first singles  Wissahickon Freshman Andrew Tran beat Nick Kahatri in an extremely high-level 3-set match 6-4,4-6,7-5.  Wissahickon's Ben Wolfe had a decisive straight set win 6-1,6-0  to keep his undefeated 20 - 0 record in tact at 2nd singles.  Nimay Godbole at 3rd pulled out a 3-set victory 6-3,4-6,6-4 as the Trojans swept Parkland in singles.  At 2nd doubles, Seniors Zane Peng and Greg Welsh scored another team point for Wissahickon winning 6-3,4-6,6-4.  David Weiss and Sam Langman had split sets at 1st doubles and didn't finish the match because the overall team score had already been decided.  Coach Daniels stated "I was really impressed of how well we refocused in the last sets of the three 3-setters.  I am really proud of this team who has gelled all season long and is enjoying this post-season tournament competition." The Trojans will travel to Hershey, Pa. for 2nd round action this Friday May20th.
