Nick Bein – Elizabethtown College (Baseball)
Catcher (6-1, 180 lbs)
Final list of colleges:
Elizabethtown, Penn State Abington, Lynchburg College
The scoop:  As a junior, Nick was a third team all-league selection for the SOL National Conference. His .450 batting average and skills earned him a Carpenter Cup team selection. In Nick’s senior season, he batted .400 while leading the Galloping Ghosts to their first District One playoff appearance since 1988.
Most memorable moment at Abington:  “Making the playoffs for the first time since 1988.”
Favorite class:  AP Statistics with Ms. Ritterman
Career:  Something in business
Most played song on iPod:  “Knee Deep” Zac Brown Band featuring Jimmy Buffett
People might be surprised to know that:  “I was born in Dallas, Georgia.”
Coach Dave Torresoni says:  “Nick, quite frankly, is probably the best player I’ve coached in my tenure at Abington for everything that he is and everything that he accomplished. He’s a true team leader, he’s a true team guy, he’s incredibly talented – he was our leading hitter for three years. He was an all-league selection for three years, a two-time Carpenter Cup selection. He batted in the middle of the order since he was a sophomore and pretty much caught every league game since then. Beyond that, just the way he is and the kind of kid he is - totally buying into the team and the concept and what we as coaches are trying to get across. When you have your best player buying in, the rest of the kids can’t help but do it. He will be missed terribly for all the things that he brought. The one nice thing about his legacy is that now that we had the season we had this past year – the rest of the kids will buy into it. Not that it was all Nick – we had other kids too, but just the fact that when your best player is at the forefront of doing the right things, it’s easier as a coach to have your expectations bought into.”

Brett Guaglionona – Penn State Abington (Baseball)
Outfielder (5-8, 160 lbs.)
The scoop:
“Brett, an outfielder and base running specialist, scored 17 runs for the Ghosts this season on their way to the district playoffs.”
Favorite class:  Law II with Mr. Grasty
Career:  Abington Police Officer
Most played song on iPod:  “Bricks” by Carriage featuring Migos
People might be surprised to know that:  “I want to be a cop.”
Coach Dave Torresani said:  “Brett started some of his senior year, but the thing about Brett is – because he was a football player, he was involved in that and didn’t get to spend a whole lot of time in the fall preparing, but by the end of the year, he was doing a great job for us. What I see in Brett is his baseball potential is ahead of him. He works real hard at it, and he had a nice American Legion season for Roslyn when he had the opportunity to play more, and I think that’s going to carry into him playing well. He’s fast, he’s a good defensive outfielder, and as he got more playing time, his bat came along. When you don’t get a lot of reps, that’s the last thing to come along. He’s going to have a nice college career because he’s going to get better.”
