Molly Wyman – Penn State Abington (Soccer)

Major: Education

Final list of colleges:  Penn State Abington, Millersville, Kutztown, Temple

Reasons for choosing Penn State Abington:  “I wanted to stay close to home, and I really liked the coach.”

What was the progression that led you to playing soccer at the collegiate level?  “I started thinking about it in ninth grade. I knew I didn’t want to stop playing soccer.”

Coach Rick Tompkins says:  “Molly scored 14 goals for us. She was by far our most effective striker. She has only played striker one year. She started out as a central midfielder because that’s where the need was. The next year we were short in the back, and she played central defense. Her final year we had literally no forwards, so we took a freshman and Molly, and she goes out and scores 14 goals. She’s an excellent player, a great kid and also was one of our tri-captains.”

Kayla Nolan – Penn State Abington (Soccer)

Major:  Undecided

Final list of colleges:  Penn State Abington, Temple, Millersville

Reasons for choosing Penn State Abington:  “My parents wanted me to stay close to home and the fact that I could play soccer was a big plus.”

What was the progression that led you to playing soccer at the collegiate level?  “I kind of know that I always wanted to play and never wanted to stop. A couple of weeks after the season when I wasn’t playing, I missed it so much. I knew I couldn’t not play.”

Coach Rick Tompkins says: “Kayla was one of our tri-captains. She is offensive-minded flank midfielder. Her forte was crossing the ball, and she was very, very dangerous getting down the flanks and bringing balls across with pace. She’s a very unselfish player. She has good foot skills and can shoot the ball with either foot and really grew over her four years.
“Kayla was a freshman starter under my predecessor, so when I came on board, she has already played a year of varsity as a ninth grader, and I cut her to jayvee. When that happens, kids could go either way, but she understood why. I explained it to her, and she stepped up and was a very good leader and has been a good mentor for her younger sister Gabby, who is a very good player and will be a junior this year.”
