“It’s tough to replace two kids like Shane and Daron,” coach Tim Sorber said. “Not only was I their head coach, but I taught them in the classroom. Sometimes that’s good, and sometimes that’s bad, but both, as sophomores, were really great character kids. You could see it in the classroom.”

Daron Boone – Bloomsburg University (Football)
Linebacker (5-11, 190 lbs.)
Final list of colleges:
Bloomsburg, Shippensburg, Kutztown
The scoop:  Daron has been a sideline-to-sideline force. Serving as team captain, he registered 114 tackles (68 solo), two interceptions and six forced fumbles from his inside linebacker position. His pass deflection on the last play of the game sealed coach Tim Sorber’s 100th victory in a win over Upper Dublin. On offense at tight end, Daron caught 24 passes and scored 11 touchdowns. In 2014, Daron earned first team SOL National Conference all-league honors at linebacker and honorable mention at tight end. He was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer’s All Southeastern PA team and earned team MVP honors. Daron represented Abington in the prestigious Big 33 game played at Hersheypark Stadium on June 20. The game pitted the best players from Pennsylvania against the top prospects from Maryland.
Most memorable moment at Abington: Beating Upper Dublin for the second straight year.
Favorite class:  Public Speaking
Career:  CEO or Manager of a hotel or resort
Most played song on iPod:  “Never Gon Lose “ by Future
People might be surprised to know:  “I have a black belt in karate.”
Coach Tim Sorber says:  “Daron has been a three-year starter. He was a unanimous first team pick at linebacker. Every week in talking to coaches before the game – it was kind of the same comment, ‘Man, that number nine at linebacker is really good.’ Daron just really has a love for the game. I think what separates him from other kids is his competitiveness. He strives to be the best every single play, and I think with that type of attitude, you’re going to see him excel at Bloomsburg. He’s going to a program at Bloomsburg with a great head coach, who’s a defensive-minded coach. He’s another kid who’s going to excel in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

Shane Griffin – West Chester University (Football)
Long Snapper (6-4, 235 lbs)
Final list of colleges:
West Chester, Kutztown, Shippensburg, Delaware Valley, Duquesne
The scoop:  Shane has been the long snapper for the Ghosts since his sophomore year. He emerged as a starter on the offensive and defensive lines as a senior. He was a member of two district playoff teams.
Most memorable moment at Abington:  Pancaking a kid going on scholarship to UVA
Favorite class:  Gym
Career:  Physical Education Teacher
Most played song on iPod:  “Still D.R.E.” by Dr. Dre
People might be surprised to know:  “I am a huge tennis fan. I watch Wimbledon every year. My favorite player is Andy Murray.”

Coach Tim Sorber says:  “Shane is going to West Chester, and he’s going to do long snap. He’s probably also going to play on either the offensive or defensive side of the ball. Shane is a kid who really came into his own, especially this year as a senior. He’s the classic kid who’s earned everything that he’s gotten. He never missed a workout, and he’s a hard working kid. He had some ups and downs through his sophomore and junior years, but he really stayed with it. I’m really happy – he’s going to have a great career at West Chester, which is a great program. They’re excited to have him.”
