Hunter Jones – Monmouth University (Lacrosse)

Major:  Undecided

Final list of colleges:  Monmouth, St. Joe’s, Rutgers

Reasons for choosing Monmouth:  “I chose Monmouth because it was in a nice location – not too far from home, and I really liked the coaches and the team.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate lacrosse?  “When I started to play in high school, I started to realize I had a future to go to college and play lacrosse. Coaches started contacting me my sophomore year.”

Coach Peter Burns says:  “First and foremost, Hunter gets it done in the classroom, which is most important. His priorities are in order. He puts academics first. His work ethic in the classroom translates onto the lacrosse field. He’s a very hard worker. He puts in a lot of hours of his own time to become successful, which led to this opportunity at Monmouth.
“Aside from that, Hunter is a great leader. He was named captain of our team voted by his peers as a junior. He’ll continue on as a captain through his senior year as well. He leads our team athletically but also as a leader of the team.
“Hunter is an attackman. He’s a big, strong, tall kid. He’s got a great shot. He’s got both a left hand and a right hand. He has the ability to shoot from the outside, but he’s also good in tight spaces. He has the ability to take over a game. There were countless times during the last year when we needed a spark, and Hunter was able to provide that.”
