Grace Whitney – West Chester University (Volleyball)

Career choice:  FBI officer/Law Enforcement

Final list of colleges:  Temple, Maryland, Widener, West Chester

Reasons for choosing West Chester:  Grace was interested in going to Temple and the University of Maryland as a student. Widener was another choice for volleyball. She ultimately chose West Chester because of the good fit – a big school and college experience.

Most memorable moment competing in sports:  “Beating Upper Dublin on their senior night sophomore year and winning the league championships this year.”

Coach Dan Marsh says:  “Grace was amazing for us. She was our most consistent player all year.  Obviously, 17-1 is successful, but I felt one of our keys going into the game was to get Grace the ball. Even when she wasn’t getting kills, she was getting blocks. She was a captain and team leader. She knew what to say and when to say it, she’s a very mature kid, and she’s very grounded. I was very impressed by her all year.
“Everybody knew about Hannah Dalton being very good, but people underestimated Grace, and I think her biggest strength was her consistency. Grace was good for 8-10 kills a game, 3-5 blocks a game every time. There was no doubt about it. She also was a good server and did other little things too.”
