Isabel Hansbury - Temple University (Softball)

Major:  Communications

Final list of colleges:  Temple, Wagner, Haverford

Reasons for choosing Temple:  “I was looking for a college that was close to home. I looked at so many colleges that were in close proximity, but none of them had food trucks. When I walked onto the Temple campus, I immediately felt at home and excited. I love the newness of the campus and the atmosphere. I also really like Coach DiPietro and the whole program!”

What was the progression that led you to playing softball at the collegiate level?  “I’ve been thinking about playing in college since I was little because back then I wanted to be like the girls on TV. I started to e-mail coaches and go to clinics and camps in my sophomore year. Last year, when I joined TNT Gold, I really learned a lot about the recruiting process and college softball in general. That’s when I really started to contact coaches.”

Coach Dan Schram says:  “I have known Isabel since she was 11 years old. I got to work with her at an early age, and I still recall the time working out with her at Valley Elementary School in Bensalem and hitting a fly ball to her that I had to cringe and turn the other way because I hit it too hard. She scooped it up and caught it like she was an adult, and I still remember thinking, ‘This kid is going to be a really, really good player.’ I watched her grow through middle school. It’s been a tremendous progression, and I think the best is yet to come for Isabel.
“Isabel is a five-tool player. She can do it all. She has speed, she has a great arm, and she can hit. She’s an all-around great player. It’s one of my proudest professional moments to see Isabel go Division One. It’s certainly a nice thing for all of Bensalem.”
