Lindsay Adriaansen – Bates College (Field Hockey)
Major:
Health Sciences
Final list of colleges:  Bates, Gettysburg, Hamilton
Reasons for choosing Bates:  “I really wanted to play Division 3, and I wanted to go to a really academically rigorous school. I also wanted to go to a school where the team was like family so that the girls were really close. I did an overnight there, and all the girls were so welcoming and acted like your best friends. They kind of all had the same personality as me, so we meshed really well.”
What was the progression that led you to playing field hockey at the collegiate level?  “I started thinking about it my summer going into junior year, which is actually pretty late. I did a lot of camps over the summer so I would get exposure, and I also did a lot before my senior year, and that’s actually how I got introduced to Bates. I did a camp called Super 60 where there are 30-plus college coaches that go, and the college coaches coached you so you get exposure to all those different teaching styles, coaching styles and the coaches themselves. I got introduced to Bates because the assistant coach was there, and they invited me to the camp they had later in the summer.”
Coach Michelle Finegan says:  “Lindsey has been an absolutely tremendous person to coach. This year especially, she grew into one of our leading scorers. She scored quite a few game winners and was able to contribute on the field. She’s feisty and was very quick in front of the goal and was able to get those rebounds off the goalkeeper’s pads. We had some other key players that were being marked out of the game, and they didn’t really expect that Lindsey was going to be the one that would score. Eventually, Lindsey was someone that was marked as well. Both Lindsey and Emily are great athletes and will be tremendous additions to their college teams.”

Emily Brennan – Gettysburg College (Field Hockey)
Major:
“I’m going in undecided, but I do want to study in the math field, and I definitely want to minor in Spanish. It’s been a dream of mine to study abroad, and playing a D3 sport at Gettysburg will allow me to do that.”
Final list of colleges:  Gettysburg, Elon University, Dennison University, Ithaca College, the College of Wooster
Reasons for choosing Gettysburg:  “At first, I had no idea what Gettysburg College was. I was looking at schools in the South, and when we were driving home, we passed a sign that said Gettysburg College is the next exit. When we drove through the campus, I actually fell in love with the school. All of my neighbors who are in college now say - you’ll get the feeling. I didn’t know if that was possible, but right when I stepped on the campus, I knew that’s the place I wanted to be. They have the perfect balance of academics and athletics that I want, and I know I’ll do great there the next four years.”
What was the progression that led you to playing field hockey at the collegiate level?  “I didn’t really know I wanted to play in college until the beginning of this season and towards the end of last season. Coming in first place in our conference and making it to states and just the team atmosphere – everyone is a family, and I really didn’t want to give that up. Going to Gettysburg for my overnight visit and seeing the team, it’s definitely a place I could feel comfortable. They’re very welcoming. It’s just another family that I can be a part of that I really like.”
