CB East Foursome Commits to Play Collegiate Soccer

On Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022, Central Bucks East seniors Brooke Roumy, Gwyn Krystkiewicz, Camryn Williams & Elliott Fornay were recognized for committing to play collegiate soccer.

“This senior class was incredibly dedicated to the sport and dedicated to the program and played a pivotal role in the success we’ve seen over the past two years that brought us a share of a league title, two state PIAA berths and runner-up in the district final,” CB East coach Jake Nesteruk said.

Elliott Forney – Rutgers University (Soccer)
Major:
Business or Education
Final list of colleges: Rutgers,
Reasons for choosing Rutgers: “I was considering other schools, but I was primarily just talking to Rutgers, and when they offered me, I was like – ‘There’s no better offer I’m going to get.’ I just liked how it was different than any other campus I’d been on since it’s split up, so there are some campuses that are more nature, and there are others that are in the city. All the facilities are so nice, and you could tell they actually cared about their students.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level?  “As a kid, I always wanted to go pro, play college soccer, but when I started playing club soccer and was playing pretty well and playing at high levels and then when high school started, I was on varsity, I realized I probably could play in college. I started getting interest from some schools, and then Rutgers, and it just happened.”
Coach Jake Nesteruk says: “Elliott is truly one of a kind, and I doubt we’ll ever see a kid walk through this program again like her. She has a true mastery of the sport, she’s incredibly thoughtful on the field, confident, positive always, and it just comes from a massive love of the game and appreciation for the game. She was an invaluable leader and always, always holding us to incredibly high standards, always willing to contribute her ideas. She has brought us a lot of really special moments over the last three years, no doubt about it.”

Gwyn Krystkiewicz – Ursinus College (Soccer)
Major:
Undecided
Final list of colleges: Ursinus, Catholic, Swarthmore, Haverford
Reasons for choosing Ursinus: “Pretty much the first time I was there I knew it was my place to be. I really liked the campus and the environment with the team. It’s also a good academic school.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level? “I’ve always wanted to play in college pretty much my whole life. I think high school soccer made me want to keep doing it because of the team atmosphere we have.”
Coach Jake Nesteruk says: “Gwyn is just the epitome of what happens when you continue to work hard at your craft. Both in the classroom and on the field, she continued to grow every single year and contributed larger and larger to the success of the team. She walks away as a senior never coming off the field in some of the biggest games we’ve played and scoring some of the most pivotal goals, crucial goals in high stakes environments, whether it was rivalry games against West or postseason games against Avon Grove and a district final game where she puts the team on her back and scored two goals in less than 10 minutes against Neshaminy. She’s just one of those kids that’s incredibly enthusiastic about coming up and training and working hard every day. She’s always willing to lend a helping hand to the growth of underclassmen, and she’s everyone’s biggest supporter. Gwyn is truly, truly a contagious personality.”

Brooke Roumy – Davidson College (Soccer)
Major:
Biology or Analytics
Final list of colleges: Davidson, Massachusetts, Richmond, Northeastern, William & Mary, High Point
Reasons for choosing Davidson: “I was really interested in it because of the academics. It was everything I was looking for especially with the size and academics. As soon as I set foot on campus, I knew I wanted to go there. I fell in love with the school. Everything about it – I just loved it. I just knew it was the place for me.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level? I grew up playing club for FC Bucks, and knowing that the end goal is to play college soccer, I played for ECNL, which allows you to go to the showcases and be exposed to college coaches. It was kind of the end goal for me from the beginning, and last year it became a reality. When I was doing my recruiting process, I realized it was possible. It was just a matter of where I was going to end up.”
Coach Jake Nesteruk says:  “Brooke was the only freshman taken when I first got here and showed up to the program incredibly gifted but incredibly quiet. She grew up to be the true heart of our program, someone who’s always willing to do the extra work to bring everyone together. She’s always looking to celebrate someone’s success, always looking to pick someone up when they’re down. On the field, she’s just grit, tenacity and focus, and she has a willingness to do whatever it takes. Brooke played a number of positions for us across her four years here, and because of her, we got to see a number of game-winning goals, plays set up, tackles won, clean sheets kept. She truly is one of those athletes who can do it all as a player and also as a leader. She absolutely put her stamp on the program and left the jersey in a better spot.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level?  “I’ve loved the sport ever since I started it, and after COVID, I realized it was something I had a lot of interest in and I wanted to pursue, so that’s what made me decide I wanted to do it in college.”
Coach Jake Nesteruk says: “Camryn Williams is just a complete lightning rod of energy and tenacity every single day. She’s just got one of those personalities that catches on, that gets people motivated. People listen to her and follow her, and she backs it up with an incredible work ethic and a never-say-die attitude. I’m incredibly thankful for what she put into the program on the field and as a leader. She has so many game-winning goals to her name, and she’s just such a confident, positive, enthusiastic and gritty, gritty soccer player. There’s so much work put in by her over the last four years, and I’m incredibly thankful to see her wear the jersey and proud that all four of these seniors are continuing their athletic and academic pursuits.”
