On Friday, March 4, Central Bucks East senior Grace Gidwani was recognized for committing to continue her field hockey career at Lock Haven University.

Final list of colleges: Lock Haven, Widener, Muhlenberg
Reasons for choosing Lock Haven: “I was looking at West Chester too but not for field hockey. I feel like I could have fit in anywhere, but in all honesty, it was more the school aspect of it. Lock Haven had the best version of my major.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level? “I decided pretty late – I started in the last year and a half. Our field hockey program has had D-1 athletes – every year there’s a whole batch of them. Just from playing at that level all those years, I didn’t want to stop ever. I still feel like I haven’t had enough of field hockey, so I had to choose the best school for me.”
Coach Emma Rosenthal says: “I was really excited for Grace to get the opportunity this year to step into goal, and she really took it and ran with it. As a former goalie myself, I’m extremely proud of her and how she was able to handle situations under pressure. She (faced) one stroke this year, and she saved it. It was unbelievable. She always was the one to have the spark for the team to see her make a big save and them go and score a goal. Having that strong leadership and strong personality in the backfield is super important for a goalie. She absolutely loves field hockey, and I’m extremely proud of her and very excited that she gets the opportunity to play in college. Lock Haven is lucky to have her.”
