CB East's Coleman & Crespo to Play Collegiate Lacrosse

On Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, Central Bucks East seniors Patrick Coleman & David Crespo were recognized for committing to compete in lacrosse at the collegiate level.

Patrick Coleman – University of Denver (Lacrosse)
Major:
Business
Final list of colleges: Denver, High Point, UMass
Reasons for choosing the University of Denver: “The environment, the mountains, the people out there are amazing, the team is super competitive, and the coaches were just amazing. It’s a really good program. Their coach – Coach (Bill) Tierney – is a legend in the sport. He called me, and it was like a dream come true. Their new head coach – Coach (Matt) Brown- built up the program with Coach Tierney and made it what it is today. It’s great.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “When I was younger, I played basketball, football and lacrosse all the way up until ninth grade. In eighth grade, if you had asked me what I was going to play, I would have said football, but in ninth grade, I don’t know what happened, but one day I woke up, and I was like – ‘Lacrosse is what I’m going to do for the rest of my life. I love it so much,’ so in ninth grade, I went all in.”
Coach Bruce Garcia says: “I’ve had the honor of coaching Patrick in our East lacrosse program, and he has committed to play lacrosse at the Division 1 level at the University of Denver. This decision reflects his dedication and hard work. Patrick’s journey has been marked by consistent practice and determination, exceeding expectations for his age. His commitment to excellence serves as an example for aspiring athletes, both on and off the field. Playing at the Division 1 level not only highlights Patrick’s talent but also his character. He is resilient and a team-oriented player. This accomplishment is a result of the collective support from his family, friends, coaches and teammates. Patrick not only brings pride to himself but also to the Central Bucks East High School lacrosse program. Congratulations, Patrick! Your dedication is inspiring – demonstrating that with hard work and passion, great achievements are possible. Best of luck in your future endeavors, both on and off the lacrosse field.”

David Crespo – Gwynedd Mercy University (Lacrosse)
Major:
Cyber Security
Final list of colleges: Gwynedd Mercy, Marymount, Kean, Messiah, Hood
Reasons for choosing Gwynedd Mercy: “I did an overnight there. I really like the coach – I like the way he runs things. The campus is really nice. I feel like since the first day I bonded with the team, found a lot of friends, so it was kind of an easy choice from there.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “I started playing lacrosse in third grade. I played a couple other sports like basketball, but it wasn’t really there for me like lacrosse was. Since ninth grade, I started taking it super seriously, and this is what I wanted to do in college.”
Coach Bruce Garcia says: “David’s unwavering dedication and passion for lacrosse have led him to this remarkable opportunity, and we’re proud of his achievement. He’s demonstrated his readiness for the next level through his hard work and performance. As his coach, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know David over the years. He’s shown remarkable athleticism, talent and leadership as an attackman. His technical skills, understanding of team dynamics and field presence are exemplary. We eagerly anticipate David’s future.
