CB East's Coleman & Knepp Commit to Play Collegiate Lacrosse

On Friday, March 4, 2022, Central Bucks East seniors Brennan Coleman & Nick Knepp were recognized for committing to compete in lacrosse at the collegiate level.

“Both Nick and Brennan - their knowledge of lacrosse belies their age, and it’s been my pleasure to be involved with them,” coach Bruce Garcia said. “I take more out of this than they gave to the program. I’m very thankful to have gotten to know both of them and their families.”

Brennan Coleman – Colorado College (Lacrosse)

Major: Physics with a targeted plan towards environmentally sustainable energy

Final list of schools: Colorado College, Tufts, Brown, Lehigh, UPenn

Reasons for choosing Colorado College: “When I was younger, my family used to go out to Colorado once a year for a little skiing. I fell in love with the environment out there and the general vibe people gave off. They saw my film and gave me the offer.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “It took a while for me to get there because originally I was all in for football. There were two big turning points. One was just with my travel team – it was a really nice day out, and it just felt right. Also, after a not-so-great football season ending with a concussion – that wasn’t a great way to end it up, and I just got a really warm welcome from the lacrosse team, so it was nice.”

Coach Bruce Garcia says:  “What do you say about an athlete like Brennan? Four-year varsity letter winner. He led our defense. We expected an awful lot out of him this year, and he produced. He comes from a very good family. He has a brother in our program. We look forward to his four years at East also.”

Nick Knepp – Widener University (Lacrosse)

Major: Finance

Final list of colleges:  Widener, York, Christopher Newport, Catholic

Reasons for choosing Widener: “My brother (Jimmy) actually plays at Widener, and I always wanted to play with him because our season got cut off because of COVID. I like what the coach is doing up there. It’s a great group of guys, and it’s a really relaxed team – I fit in perfectly with them, and I get along with all the players already.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level:  “Actually, I liked soccer most of my life and was better at soccer. I was deciding if I should play soccer in college up to my junior year. That summer I knew I wanted to play lacrosse after my first East season on varsity.”

Coach Bruce Garcia says:  “Nick is following in the footsteps of his brother Jimmy, who had a very good career at East. Nick had a stellar career at East. Again, he comes from a very good family. They’re a pleasure to deal with.”
