Tate Dawson – Ohio University (Track/Cross Country)
Major:
Pre-Physical Therapy
Final list of colleges:  Ohio University, Ithaca, East Stroudsburg
Reasons for choosing Ohio University: “It had a really good program for the major I was interested in, and it was the perfect sized school that I was looking for.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track and cross country at the collegiate level?  “It didn’t really start (out) that I wanted to run in college until this summer while I was looking at schools. I contacted the coaches for the colleges, and then I went on a visit with the teams. That’s when I really decided to run.”
Coach Sam Losorelli says:  “We’ve known Tate since fourth grade, and she’s just a tremendous, tremendous young lady. She’s probably the most dedicated, loyal person I’ve ever had running. She has an outstanding work ethic. Tate is the type I’ll say, ‘Jump, Tate,’ and she’ll say, ‘How high?’ She’ll do what she has to do. Tate will graduate in June being a 12-letter winner. She’s received a varsity letter all four years that she’s been here.”
Coach Steve Martin:  “Tate is just well respected and looked up to by all her teammates. On a team as large as ours to have that kind of respect from everybody just says a lot about the character of a person.”

Meaghan Shewbrooks – Bucknell University (Track)
Major:
Marketing with a minor in Spanish
Final list of colleges:  Bucknell, University of Rhode Island, Villanova, New York University
Reasons for choosing Bucknell: “When I visited Bucknell on my official and I got to meet the team, the team was so similar to the team I have here at East. The thing that made East great the past four years is my team, so that was the big deciding factor for me.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track at the collegiate level?  “I did not actually decide I wanted to run in college until probably the beginning of my junior year. I was contemplating back and forth whether or not I wanted to run, and after we had a really successful winter season last year, that was the thing that got me excited, and I decided I wanted to run in college.”
Coach Steve Martin says:  “Meaghan is just a very focused, determined young lady. She sets her goals out and will put the work in to achieve those goals. She has been a great asset to our team, and I’m sure she’s going to carry that same work ethic to Bucknell. The main purpose is getting a great education, but I think she’ll get there and really be an asset in her first year running track at Bucknell.”
Coach Sam Losorelli says: “We give out an award at the end of the year – ‘The Beast of the East.’ Meaghan is a beast. When she has a goal in mind, she goes after it, and she takes no prisoners. She’s a tremendous athlete. She’s a captain this year, and I know she’s going to do tremendous things leading the team to great things.”
