CB East's Troth & Suko Commit to Play Collegiate Field Hockey

On Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022, Central Bucks East seniors Alli Troth & Caroline Suko were recognized for committing to compete in collegiate field hockey.

Caroline Suko – Georgetown University (Field Hockey)
Major:
Business & Global Affairs
Final list of colleges: Georgetown, Colgate, Brown, Tufts
Reasons for choosing Georgetown: “I really liked the coaches there – they sparked my interest because they were supportive and excited for me to come. They were also really supportive of me visiting other schools first because it’s a really big decision, and they were supportive of me taking my time with that decision.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level?  “The end of my sophomore year is when I decided I really wanted to play in college, and I think that’s because I watched people I looked up to go off to college and play in college because I looked up to them and what they were doing.”
Coach Emma Rosenthal says: “Caroline Suko is an amazing player, and she presents an amazing problem for a coach to have in that she is so extremely versatile. You can put Suko anywhere on the field, and not only is she going to succeed, but she’s going to be an absolute threat for the other teams and an amazing teammate to everyone around her on the field. Any place that you put her, any teammate she is next to, she thrives. She’s exactly what you want in a teammate and a player. She is so extremely unselfish in the fact that she has an amazing ability to distribute the ball and to see the passes throughout the game. Sometimes I joke with Suko that she almost needs to be a little bit selfish, but that’s an amazing quality she has. The way she plays proves her as an amazing person. She has such great character, and we’ve been so lucky to have her on the team as a leader, as a captain and as an amazing player and teammate.”

Alli Troth – Colgate University (Field Hockey)
Major:
Biology or Neuroscience
Reasons for choosing Colgate: “Colgate has always been my dream school growing up, and my siblings were looking there. When I went and visited, I just knew that was the one school I wanted to go to. Any other school I was looking for academics at that time, I just wasn’t satisfied with, but Colgate has everything I wanted and more.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level? “Originally, I didn’t think I was going to play in college. It was always an option, and I was debating, but my coaches and peers inspired me, seeing them play and getting committed. Honestly, I couldn’t really see myself not playing field hockey in the future after my most recent season. When I visited, I ended up doing the hockey clinic, meeting the team, and I couldn’t see myself not playing field hockey there after thinking – this is where I want to go. It just ended up working out for me, so I feel very, very lucky and grateful.”
Coach Emma Rosenthal says: “Alli Troth was a great captain this year. I’m so excited that she decided to continue playing in college. She thrived in her senior year and was our leading goal scorer. She scored in 10 of the 14 games we scored in, and every one of her teammates knew that they could count on her. When she plays, she is a complete threat, but off the field as a person, she carries herself with such humility and such confidence. I’m really proud of her, and I’m so excited to see how she does in the future.
