On Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, Central Bucks East senior Brooklyne Wiley was recognized for committing to continue her cross country and track career at Elizabethtown College.

Brooklyne Wiley – Elizabethtown College (Track & Cross Country)

Major:  Engineering

Final list of colleges:  Elizabethtown, Ithaca or Rensselaer

Reasons for choosing Elizabethtown:  “My aunt went there and my grandma went there, so I knew about it before. I just like that it’s really small, and it’s not too far away but it’s not too close – it’s the right distance. They have engineering, which I like because I want to go into that, and they also have a minor in architecture. Ideally, I’d like to be an architect, and I like that you can get both majors. The coach came to a couple of meets this past cross country season, and he kind of pushed me to go there, and I liked that. The team was nice, the coach was nice. I went on an overnight visit and I stayed with the team. I really got along with them, and that made me decide.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in cross country and track at the collegiate level?  “I started running in seventh grade, and I liked it. I just always assumed I would keep dong it for the rest of my life, so I never really questioned not doing it in college.“

Coach Sam Losorelli says:  “Of all the years coaching, if I had to name my top five athletes, Brooklyne would be in the top five, based on her talent, based on her personality, based on so many things. If there’s one word that best describes Brooklyne, she’s dedicated - dedicated to the team, dedicated to her training, dedicated to her school and dedicated to her teammates. She’s just the all-around perfect athlete you could ask for. She’s a fantastic young lady, and I’ll miss her and the team will miss her.”
