CB South's Berger Commits to Play Baseball at St. Bonaventure

On Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, Central Bucks South senior Ben Berger was recognized for committing to continue his baseball career at St. Bonaventure University.

Ben Berger – St. Bonaventure University (Baseball)

Major:  Business Management

Final list of colleges:  St. Bonaventure, Towson, La Salle, Shippensburg, Coastal Carolina

Reasons for choosing St. Bonaventure:  “They were one of the first schools that really contacted me and reached out to me. I really fell in love with the campus. It’s a good size for me, and it was a perfect fit in general. The coaches were easy to talk to, and it felt like I was at home.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level?  “Ever since I was like 10 years old, it’s always been my dream to play college baseball. Watching it on TV, the College World Series, that’s always been one of my biggest goals to play Division I baseball. I’m so blessed that I could take my talents to the next level.”

Coach Brian Klumpp says:  “Ben’s biggest strength is his speed. His 60 time, I think, is one of the top times in the state. I know he timed out real well at a PBR event and was pretty high up there. His speed helps him on the bases, up at the plate and, obviously, playing center field for us. He wasn’t even starting the beginning of the year last year and midway through the season ended up being our leadoff hitter. He just constantly set the table for us and was a big part of our offense last year and will be this year as well. In our first two games, he’s been on base almost 80 percent of the time. He’s a great kid. When I got here three years ago, it was his sophomore year. He was always just a good teammate with everybody. He’s a real polite kid. He’s definitely a valuable player on the field, and he’s a team captain. I don’t really give that title away. You have to earn it, and he definitely has.”
