CB South's Dennis to Continue Volleyball Career at Gwynedd Mercy

On Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, Central Bucks South senior Julia Dennis was recognized for committing to continue her volleyball career at Gwynedd Mercy University.

Julia Dennis – Gwynedd Mercy University (Volleyball)

Major:  Radiology

Reasons for choosing Gwynedd Mercy:  “Gwynedd was my top school. I didn’t really look anywhere else because I knew I was really set on going there. It’s my dream school. It’s small, it’s local, and it had the major I wanted. It had everything I needed.”

Coach Kurt Godfrey says:  “Julia came to us her freshman year with not a lot of experience. She never really played volleyball before, but it’s tough not to take a girl that’s six feet tall at 15 years old. We gave her a chance, and it was apparent from day one the work ethic and drive that Julia has. That’s certainly what has made her an incredible volleyball player.
“If you know anything about the family, it’s an athletic family. Both of her older brothers have played sports in college, and Julia is just an incredibly hard worker. She loves the game of volleyball, and I can’t say enough about how she’s the first one to practice every day and doesn’t hesitate to ask questions and is always learning on and off the court.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in volleyball at the collegiate level?  “I came in my freshman year not really knowing much, and coach Kurt took a chance on me and took me my freshman year. I played club for three seasons, and the Gwynedd coach showed interest in me. I realized I could do it, and I went from there.”
