CB South's Liu & Black Commit to Play Collegiate Baseball

On Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, Central Bucks South seniors Michael Liu and Braeden Black were recognized for committing to compete in collegiate baseball.

Braeden Black – Mount Saint Mary’s University (Baseball)
Major:
Biology
Final list of colleges: Mount St. Mary’s, Dartmouth, UMass
Reasons for choosing Mount St. Mary’s: “Definitely the size of the school and also the atmosphere the baseball team had – it was great, it was perfect.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level? “It came about my freshman year when I finally devoted myself fully to baseball. I stopped playing soccer, and I decided that baseball was my sport, and that’s what I wanted to pursue.”
Coach Kevin Bray says: “The baseball program and myself would like to congratulate Braeden Black on his commitment to Mount St. Mary’s University to continue his academic and athletic career. We’re excited for Braeden to enter this next phase of his career at the next level. He is an outstanding athlete who we project to have great success at the next level. Entering his senior year, Braeden will be an intricate part of our program, and we see him having great success this season in the outfield and as a designated hitter. Braeden has dedicated himself to a high level during this process, and we wish him and his family nothing but the best moving on to Mount St. Mary’s.”

Michael Liu – University of Mary Washington (Baseball)

Final list of colleges: Mary Washington, Siena, Ithaca, Elizabethtown
Reasons for choosing Mary Washington: “I wanted to go to a place where I knew I could get on the field day one and have an impact and go to a place where we could really compete for something like going to the NCAA Tournament. Also, I loved the campus. The coaches at Mary Washington were the only coaches that checked in on me every three or four days, so I knew they wanted me.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level? “Honestly, when I started playing baseball, I always knew I wanted to play at a higher level.”
Coach Kevin Bray says: “I’d like to congratulate Michael Liu and his family for his commitment to play at the next level and expect him to have great success. Michael has the determination and the will to succeed. He has had some bumps in the road that have only made him better having had Tommy John surgery at the beginning of last season.
