Isabella Manzella – Wagner College (Soccer)
Major:
Pre-Med
Final list of colleges:  Wagner, Towson, Penn State
Reasons for choosing Wagner:  “I also considered Towson for soccer and Penn State not to play soccer, but I decided on Wagner because I just loved the campus and the soccer field was pretty cool.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level?  “I started playing soccer when I was seven years old, and ever since then, I really loved it. I think I finally started realizing I was good and I was going to play in college when I started my club team for Vereinigung Erzgebirge when I was in ninth grade. My college coach from Wagner scouted me out sophomore year, and ever since then, I knew I wanted to go.”
Coach Betsy Bullock says: “Izzy Manzella really is kind of an unsung hero. She’s just a very strong defensive player. She played in the back for me, and she actually scored several goals coming forward, which helped us win some games in a very difficult Suburban One Continental Conference. Unfortunately, she was injured halfway through the season, but she did come back in time to play a little bit in our second district playoff game. She’s just an extremely hard working, solid, technically skilled player, and she should do well in college.”

Brooke Steigerwalt – University of Tampa (Soccer)
Major:
Marketing/Sports Management
Final list of colleges:  Tampa, University of Vermont
Reasons for choosing Tampa:  “Once I saw Tampa, I just knew. I wanted to go down south, so I knew right away that would be such a nice school to go to. I knew I would love it instantly, which I actually did. It was the right fit.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level?  “I told my dad when I was probably eight years old – ‘Dad, I’m going to get a scholarship in soccer, don’t worry.’ He was like, ‘Okay.’ He didn’t believe me, but I kept my word on that.”
Coach Betsy Bullock says:  “Brooke Steigerwalt was one of the senior team captains. She was a four-year starter, and she was very instrumental in our state run to Hershey. She’s a phenomenal player. She plays with heart and tenacity. Unfortunately, she had an ACL injury halfway through the season against North Penn, which really had a great impact on the team. However, even though she wasn’t playing, I called her my assistant assistant coach. She would help from the sidelines. She’s very tactically knowledgeable, and she was a great support for the other players.”
