Haley Meinel – Jefferson University (Basketball)

Major:  Physical Therapy

Final list of colleges: Jefferson, University of the Sciences, University of Vermont

Reasons for choosing Jefferson:  “After visiting the campus and meeting with the players and coaches multiple times, I knew that Jefferson was the perfect fit. The players were very welcoming and so were the coaches. I loved the coaches, and it was close to my home, so my family could always come to my games whenever they wanted to. The fact that Philadelphia University and Jefferson merged together helped me academically pursue my goal of being a physical therapist.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in basketball at the collegiate level?  “I have always had a love and passion for basketball ever since I was young. I played two other sports along with it, but I decided to solely focus on basketball in ninth grade. With the help of my high school coaches and my AAU program, the Lady Running Rebels and Newtown Rebel Academy, I was able to take my game to the next level. My only goal now is to prove the coaches of Jefferson University right for recruiting me.”

Coach Beth Mattern says: “Haley has been a very dynamic player for us over the course of her tenure at CB South. We’ve loved having her on the court. She’s got speed no one else can match, she can rebound, and she’s really our Energizer bunny that helps us go. I know she’s going to have a really successful career in college, and we’re so excited for her. Also, we’re really excited for Haley’s senior season at CB South.”
