CB South's Scholer Commits to Swim at Clarion

On Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, Central Bucks South senior Richard Scholer was recognized

Richard Scholer – Pennsylvania Western Clarion University (Swimming)

Major: Secondary Education

Final list of colleges: Clarion, Niagara, Fairfield

Reasons for choosing Clarion: “It’s good for my major – it’s a Pennsylvania state school, so it’s very affordable, but I also fell in love with the coach and team in general. It’s also a nice, small campus, which I’m a fan of also.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in swimming at the collegiate level? “I’ve been swimming since I was a little kid, but I didn’t actually enjoy my time swimming and (didn’t) think that I should go further until probably sophomore year. That’s when I really locked in to being serious about it.”

Coach Dale Johnson says: “Rich Scholer is such an amazing student and athlete. He’s been a privilege to have on the team from the moment last year I stepped in as the new head coach. He was a leader, he was one of the hardest workers every single practice, day in and day out, and he always brought a positive attitude to practices and meets. His leadership skills/people skills were clear from the start. He’s going to be such a big asset to his team in college. I’m really looking forward to a big senior year. He’s a team captain for us. I’m really proud of you, Rich. I’m excited for everything you’re going to be doing in college and beyond.”
