Stephanie Tripodi – Arizona State University (Gymnastics)

Major:  Film Production

Final list of colleges:  Arizona State, Minnesota, University of Arizona

Reasons for choosing Arizona State:  “It’s just a very lively place, the weather is very nice. I committed the end of ninth grade, and we got new coaches the year after I committed. They’re making the program so much better. It’s just a very innovative school.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in gymnastics at the collegiate level?  “When I was 12 or 13, I decided college gymnastics was going to be the best thing for me. I used to travel to Europe a lot to compete, and it was going well, but I knew it wasn’t going to get much further than that. I used to train in Pennsylvania, but now I’m training in North Jersey. I’m actually at the top gym in the country right now, and it made a big difference.”

Coach Tony Gehman says:  “Stephanie Tripodi is special with a classical style and grace. Most gymnasts today have sheer power, but Stephanie demonstrates a more aesthetic style that many European gymnasts possess. Her flexibility shows off beautifully on beam and floor especially.”
