Olivia Berry – University of Pittsburgh (Track & Field)

Major:  Undecided

Final list of colleges:  Pitt, Penn State
Reasons for choosing Pitt:  “My teammate last year, Jamila Branch, was my host at Pitt, so I just felt really comfortable there because I already knew somebody on the team. I really liked the environment and the campus, and I really liked the coaches.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in track at the collegiate level?  “(As a junior), I really focused on the 800 because I really wanted to do well in it. I just had a really good year overall. I made states individually, and I was able to place at states.”

Coach Kiki Bell says:  “We knew she was good from the first time we saw her. You could tell she was one heck of an athlete, and the journey she’s had from ninth grade to 12th grade is amazing because she didn’t always have the confidence and see what we saw. The assistant coaches have really helped to establish her confidence, and that’s really been the key. She really emerged as a leader this year.”
