Eli Boehm- Duquesne University (Football)

Major: Business

Final list of colleges: Duquesne, Sacred Heart, Temple, Valparaiso

Reasons for choosing Duquesne: “I didn’t really like any of the other campuses as much as I like Duquesne. I really like the program too – I like everything they do. All my family is from Pittsburgh, and I kind of grew up in Pittsburgh with all my extended family. I just thought it would be super cool to go to college there.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level?  “I grew up playing a bunch of sports. It started out I wanted to play football in college, and then I wanted to play baseball in college for a little bit. High school I stopped playing baseball, and I was – ‘Yeah, I definitely want to go and play football.’ Sophomore year it started kicking in that I really loved it, and I wanted to play it beyond high school.”

Coach Rob Rowan says:  “Eli was a gamer, and what I mean by that – Friday night when the lights came on, he was at his best. The moment was never too big for him. He was always cool, calm and collected, totally locked in and focused. On top of that, he was just incredibly tough. He had a physical, chip-away-at-you running style, and eventually, guys would get a little tired of wanting to tackle him. That mentality and really being an even-keeled type of players, he just wore people down. He knew who he was, and he fully invested himself into that style of play, and it made him really successful. In our win over North Penn, he had 300-plus yards of offense, and all to himself, he had five touchdowns. It was one of the most incredible single individual performances that I’ve been a part of.  I think Duquesne is really going to be a good fit for him, and I’m excited to see how he continues to develop.”
