Lily Cosner – University of Delaware (Field Hockey)
Major:
Human physiology and sports health
Final list of colleges: Delaware, St. Joseph’s, Vermont
Reasons for choosing Delaware: “I loved it for years – I’ve been obsessed with the campus, and the coaching staff always made me feel so welcome, and the girls were just always so welcoming that were already on the team.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level? “I started thinking about it in middle school, and then my first year on varsity as a freshman, I really saw field hockey in a different atmosphere here in high school. I realized that’s what I wanted to do in college too because it was just so fun being on the team and playing the game, so that’s when it grew.”
Coach David DeAngelis says: “Lily's exceptional qualities of hard work, dedication, and excellence make her a highly-valued student-athlete who leads by example on and off the pitch. She excels in both academics and athletics, inspiring others with her accomplishments. It is her resilience and determination that has enabled Lily to continued progression. When faced with challenges, she never stopped learning, growing, and seeking opportunities for personal development. Lily's commitment to self-improvement will undoubtedly shape a successful future for her. Lily is - and will always be – a most special individual. Always and forever.”

Nina Mayro – Georgetown University (Field Hockey)
Major:
Pre-med
Final list of colleges:  Georgetown, Richmond, William & Mary, Johns Hopkins
Reasons for choosing Georgetown: “I love the location of it in the city. I’m someone that likes to go out and explore. I really like to be doing things, so being in the city, there’s always new places to explore, places to go out and eat or go out and sightsee because it’s in Washington, D.C., and there’s a bunch of stuff there. Also, academically, I felt like it was a good fit for me. I really loved the coaches, and that was a big part too.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level?  “I never really thought about playing in college until freshman year when I played varsity for field hockey and I was playing with seniors that were going to college, and they got me going down that route. As I went through my high school career, I realized I didn’t want it to stop after high school.”
Coach David DeAngelis says: “Nina is a resilient and hardworking individual who always welcomes new challenges. She is motivated to exceed expectations. Nina is a high achiever and consistently strives for excellence in both athletics and academics.
