Lindsey Gerlach – Shippensburg University (Track)

Major:  Undeclared

Reasons for choosing Shippensburg:  “I always knew from the start it was going to be Shippensburg. I went to camp there, and when I was there, I could see myself going there in a few years. I really liked the coach. I knew that’s where I wanted to be running.”

What was the progression that led you to running at the collegiate level?  “My mom ran in high school, and I have an older sister (Tori Gerlach) who runs for Penn State. I went to some of her collegiate track meets, and I kind of knew that I wanted something a little more serious than high school track because I was so dedicated to running. Sometimes it’s just an activity for people in high school, but it was more than that to me, so I knew I wanted to be on a more intense level of running.”

Coach Kiki Bell says:  “Lindsey came to West as a sophomore and had an immediate impact, especially in cross country, and in track, she excels in the distance events. She’s really put the work in this year to put herself back into the athlete she has the potential to be. She works hard – she leads workouts. She loves running, and that’s really what it’s all about. Especially when you’re focusing on distance runners - they’ve got to love it, and she does. She has a passion for it, and she deserves it in her own right.”
