Stephen Hogan – Chestnut Hill College (Lacrosse)
Major:
Secondary Education
Final list of colleges: Chestnut Hill, Cabrini, Gwynedd Mercy, Eastern, Widener, Susquehanna
Reasons for choosing Chestnut Hill:  “They have my major, which is secondary education, and it’s a nice small school, which I was looking for. The team is really a good group of guys, and playing under their coaches, Brian Dougherty, one of the best goalies of all time, and Niko Amato, they’re two great coaches for my position as a goalie. The school was the right size and it was close to home. It just all seemed to fall into place.”
What was the progression that led you to playing goalie at the collegiate level? “I’ve been playing lacrosse since first grade, so I love the sport. My freshman year came, and I started the recruiting (process) early. I looked at a lot of different schools, but Chestnut Hill – I kind of fell in love with it when I saw it.”
Coach Matt Coverdale says:  “Stephen has an incredible passion for the sport, for his position and for his school. He has worked so hard over the years to perfect his craft as a goaltender. He has gone to numerous goalie clinics and goalie schools. He has the heart of a warrior, and he is a voice in the locker room and the huddle. His passion just continues to shine through.”

Tim Kiel – St. John’s University (Lacrosse)
Major:
Business
Final list of colleges: St. John’s, Holy Cross, Lafayette
Reasons for choosing St. John’s:  “My brother (Pat) and I are pretty close, and it’s always nice knowing that he’s looking out for me. We work well together on the field, and (Pat playing for St. John’s) definitely was a contributing factor.
“Overall, the school is great. They have a great business school, which I think I’m going to major in. The city offers great opportunities after college, and it’s only a 20-minute ride to the city. The school is the perfect size for me – not too big and not too small. When it came down to all the options, it felt most like home.”
What was the progression that led you to playing lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “I actually started lacrosse in seventh grade, and I quit for a year in eighth grade, and I played basketball my freshman year. I finally realized basketball wasn’t the right path, so I gave lacrosse a shot. It turns out it gave me a good opportunity. It’s a big part of my life.”
Coach Matt Coverdale says:  “Tim is an incredible athlete and amazingly talented at his position (close defenseman). He was the core of our defense this year. Timmy has great speed and takeaway skills as a defender, tremendous hustle and no quit on the field. He’ll be joining his older brother (Pat), and I consider St. John’s very fortunate to have managed to acquire both of them. I am sure they will be assets for them through years to come.”
