Kevin Siegfried – University of Delaware (Diving)

Major: Environmental Engineering

Final list of colleges:  Delaware, Bucknell, La Salle, Boston University, Boston College

Reasons for choosing Delaware:  “When I went on my official visit, everyone there was super nice. I really liked the team, and they have a really great sports facility and pool, which is awesome. They also had great options for majors that I would love to study.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in diving at the collegiate level?  “I wasn’t always looking to dive in college, but after last year, I had a lot of success and got really good coaches, and it just kind of came naturally. I wanted to push myself further and go and just keep doing more. This wasn’t even on my radar freshman and sophomore year.”

Coach Fred Dunn says:  “Kevin was a gymnast and apparently a very good one, but he kept breaking his feet. As a freshman, he came out for West, and he showed up maybe once a week. It was the COVID summer of 2020. Fanny Chapman carved out some time for us, and it was great. It was 7-10 in the morning. They were so dying to have something to do, and even when it was freezing, they were all there. Midway through the summer, Kevin said, ‘I just quit gymnastics,’ and from that point on, his progress was amazing. If he has the right fit with his next level coach, his ceiling is really high. I don’t see a ceiling.”
